Bay Area Beercation- Bar Review: Beer 39 at Pier 39, San Francisco, CA
First bar visit during my Beercation to the Bay Area!
Hop Spot Bar Review: Beer 39
Location: Pier 39, San Francisco, CA (near Fisherman's Wharf)
Rating: 5/5 cheers
Comments:
-Funny story on how I got to this place:
I visited Pier 39 with some family, not expecting to find any bars specifically for craft beer. I was peeking my head into different restaurants, seeing out of curiosity what taps were hanging around. I saw the usual macros, and lots of Sierra Nevada and Anchor. Then I thought why not Google this place? With a quick search of Pier 39 beer it returned Beer 39. Still looking at my phone while walking, my sister said, Look! I looked up and BAM. We were standing in front of Beer 39. It was meant to be!
-What first caught my eye when walking in was that this place was part bar part shop. Lots of cool apparel, signs, glasses, and even steins were for sale. The bartender (I forgot his name) was extremely nice and helpful. I told him I wasn't a local and he told me all I needed to know. I chose a flight of: Anchor Steam Ale, Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA, and 21st Amendment Back in Black IPA- all from breweries in San Francisco.
-Overall: Relaxing ambiance, cool products for sale, friendly service, good variety of beers from the area and parts California. Great if you want to kick back and relax from the busy streets of SF.
-Fun Fact: Why the name Beer 39? Well, it's in Pier 39, but the bar also boasts 12 beers and tap and 27 bottles...you do the math ;)

Introducing SF Beer Week
Learn about its history, events, and what SF Beer Week is all about, from a few people who help make it one of the best craft beer week celebrations in America.
Founded in 2009, SF Beer Week takes places over 10 days, and features hundreds of events organized and hosted by hundreds of craft breweries, restaurants, bars, and retail stores throughout the greater Bay Area.
SF Beer Week is produced by the San Francisco Brewers Guild, a non-profit 501(c)(6), whose mission is to restore and preserve San Francisco's brewing heritage and to unite those who make local beer with those who love it.
