(Airport Tour #23) (Filmed by my dad; I did the editing) My parents were in SFO for a connection and were gracious enough to get some video of San Francisco's Terminal 3 for me. Their connection wasn't too long so the footage they were able to get is limited, but it's still worth a look. Along with views of Terminal 3, you'll see the outside of the International Terminal and some widebody aircraft (SWISS A340, EVA 777, United 777, and of course, 3-4 United 747s). Hope you enjoy!

Alcatraz (San Francisco) - A Virtual Tour through the Famous Alcatraz of San Fransisco
Video of Alcatraz (San Francisco) - A Virtual Tour through the Famous Alcatraz of San Fransisco
Alcatraz Island is located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) offshore from San Francisco, California, United States. Often referred to as The Rock, the small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison (1868), and a federal prison from 1933 until 1963. Beginning in November 1969, the Alcatraz island was occupied for more than 19 months by a group of aboriginal people from San Francisco who were part of a wave of Native activism across the nation with public protests through the 1970s. In 1972, Alcatraz became a national recreation area and received designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
Today, the Alcatraz island's facilities are managed by the National Park Service as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area; it is open to tours. Visitors can reach the Alcatraz island by ferry ride from Pier 33, near Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. Hornblower Cruises and Events, operating under the name Alcatraz Cruises, is the official ferry provider to and from the island. Hornblower launched the nation's first hybrid propulsion ferry in 2008, the Hornblower Hybrid, which now serves the island, docking at the Alcatraz Wharf.
It is home to the abandoned prison, the site of the oldest operating lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States, early military fortifications, and natural features such as rock pools and a seabird colony (mostly Western Gulls, cormorants, and egrets). According to a 1971 documentary on the History of Alcatraz, the island measures 1,675 feet (511 m) by 590 feet (180 m) and is 135 feet (41 m) at highest point during mean tide. However, the total area of the island is reported to be 22 acres (8.9 ha).
Landmarks on the island include the Main Cellhouse, Dining Hall, Library, Lighthouse, the ruins of the Warden's House and Officers Club, Parade Grounds, Building 64, Water Tower, New Industries Building, Model Industries Building, and the Recreation Yard.

Hillsborough California Produced by Ed Stephens www.EdwardStephens.com Part One
Hillsborough began in the late 19th century as a playground and retreat for the famous San Francisco Barons, whose fortunes arose out of the California Gold Rush. Emulating the ultra rich and landed gentry of the East Coast, they played polo and tennis, hunted game, and luxuriated in magnificent Palazzos, Chateaus, and Manors. As the 1920's approached, Hillsborough, with its proximity to San Francisco, became a year around community for leaders of business, commerce, and social prominence. In the romantic period revival styles of that time, skilled craftsmen constructed magnificent Spanish Colonials, Italian Villas, New England Colonials, English Country manors, and French Mansions, often behind gates, and luxuriant plantings. Hillsborough is, without questions, Northern California's' most exclusive, beautiful, and desirable residential towns. Strategically located 20 miles south the San Francisco, and within a short commute to silicon valley and the booming biotech industry, Hillsborough is home to many leading entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, champions of business, the arts, and professional sports. If Hillsborough was once the bastion of old money, now Hillsborough is cosmopolitan, and famous, worldwide, as one the world's fabled communities. Within Hillsborough are award winning public and private schools, among some of the highest rated schools in the country. Within blocks of much of Hillsborough is the village of Burlingame with its' world class shopping and dining. One of world's crown jewels of residential communities, Hillsborough is still a great value, and is a great opportunity for those who expect the best.

Golden Gate Bridge Travel Guide | San Francisco Attractions | California Travel Tips
California travel expert Veronica Hill shares her Golden Gate Bridge Travel Guide in this episode of California Travel Tips.
Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge is a rite of passage in San Francisco, whether you choose to walk from the Presidio to the Marin Headlands vista point or simply drive your car across the six-lane bridge.
Driving across the golden gate bridge is free going toward Marin County, but there is a small toll coming back into San Francisco. Today, the amount of cars that cross each day is about 120,000. Current toll is $5.
As we passed through the toll gate and began our crossing by car, I wondered how long is the Golden Gate Bridge?
We learned it's about about 1.7 miles from beginning to end with a 4,200 foot suspension span. It takes about an hour to walk across.
The Golden Gate Bridge's history dates back to its proposal in 1916. Construction began in 1933, and $35 million later the bridge officially opened to traffic on May 28, 1937.
It was the longest suspension bridge in the world until 1964, and the record has been beaten several times since then. In 1998, the Pearl Bridge in Japan claimed the world title.
Engineering students and commoners alike marvel at the Golden Gate Bridge blueprints designed by Joseph Strauss and Irving Morrow.
Until then it was called the bridge that couldn't be built due to rough ocean currents, heavy fog and 60mph winds. It was Morrow's idea to paint it an orange vermillion, which increases its visibility in the City's famous fog. The color is actually called international orange
The vista point on the Marin County side is perfect place to stop and take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, enjoy the city's fabulous skyline through a viewfinder or marvel at this beautiful piece of American architecture.
Golden Gate Bridge suicides remain a problem, and there are several crisis phones located along the walking path. It's said only 26 people have survived the 750-foot jump. An annual average of 19 people commit suicide off the bridge.
Before you leave, don't miss the Golden Gate Bridge Souvenir shop, located in the historic roundhouse at Toll Plaza. You can also shop online at
