My visit to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Centre Seattle
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Centre in Seattle has a lot of information regarding what the foundation supports and sponsors. It includes goals and objective that the foundation aims to achieve as well as the time frames they require to meet them. If you are interested in statistics and analysis, the Discovery Centre has plenty to consider.
The Discovery Centre also has several videos showing throughout the day in their theatre. There are also several short films and snippets played throughout the Discovery Centre. These videos are played on repeat so if you miss the beginning you can wait for it to restart.
There was also an activity area at one end of the Discovery Centre designed for children to learn about various initiatives, activities, and research. Some activities required the children to come up with their own solutions to particular challenges and problems. While I was there, a local school was visiting. I believe school excursions to the Discovery Centre are frequent.
I found the interactive video wall to be the most interesting and possibly the most useful source of information regarding activities relating to the foundation. I recommend that anyone who visits should experiment with the wall. I explore the video wall in more detail in the video.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Centre is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Admission is also free-of-charge.

Bill, Melinda Gates Talk Trump, Foundation Pivot
(13 Feb 2018) Bill and Melinda Gates, as the world's top philanthropists, are rethinking their work in America as they confront what they consider an unsatisfactory track record, the country's growing inequity and a president they disagree with more than any other.
In an interview with The Associated Press, the couple said that they're concerned about President Donald Trump's America first worldview.
They've made known their disagreements with the president and his party on issues including foreign aid, taxes and protections for immigrant youth in the country illegally.
Now, the Gateses say they're also digging into the layers of U.S. poverty that they haven't been deeply involved with at the national level, including employment, race, housing, mental health, incarceration and substance abuse.
We are not seeing the mobility out of poverty in the same way in the United States as it used to exist, Melinda Gates said in a Feb. 1 interview with The Associated Press.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation said it's studying these aspects of economic mobility with no plans yet for any particular initiatives, though it has done related work at home in Washington state on a much smaller scale. Last year, it funded a grant for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities to look into state and federal policies that can reduce poverty.
Once the world's richest man, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has marked a decade since transitioning away from the tech giant to focus on philanthropy. He said he's had two meetings with Trump, where they discussed innovation in education, energy and health _ including vaccines, which Trump has voiced skepticism about them.

Seattle Is Ground Zero For the USA Coronavirus Outbreak: The Money Behind Future Infant Vaccinations
They don't call it 'The Seattle Space Needle' for nothing. As I was posting this video Breaking News came in that my home city of Toronto, Canada just confirmed that we have our first case of Coronaviris from a male that was on a flight in from Wuhan, China. I discuss Toronto, the Coronavirus and SARS in this video as I knew they were coming back for us..
On October 18th, 2018 15 members of the New World Order sat at a New York City Hotel for 3.5 hours and discussed the pending Coronavirus pandemic. I believe that this latest worldwide virus scare has been manufactured in a bio-lab and will slowly be released upon mankind in the coming month's. I first heard about this Coronavirus the first thing that I looked for was a vaccine that would be ready to hand out for anyone who get's the virus. What I found was that there is a patent for the virus (meaning it is man made and could be used as a bio-weapon) and I found that vaccine cure's were being investigated and researcged by pharmaceutical companies. I also discovered two glaring links that connects the Gates Foundation to a pharmaceutical company (American based Novavax) that is in it's third stage of trial research for a vaccination for an infant version of the Coronavirus and I also link the Gates Foundation to a recent meeting in New York City (October 18th, 2019) where a Global viral pandemic was discussed using the Coronavirus as the driving force behind the pandemic. This meeting was less then two month's before they announced the first victim of the Coronavirus in Wuhan, China. You really can't make this stuff up.

SUMMARY

Seattle ( (listen) see-AT-əl) is a seaport city on the west coast of the United States. It is the seat of King County, Washington. With an estimated 730,000 residents as of 2018, Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. According to U.S. Census data released in 2018, the Seattle metropolitan area’s population stands at 3.87 million, and ranks as the 15th largest in the United States. In July 2013, it was the fastest-growing major city in the United States and remained in the Top 5 in May 2015 with an annual growth rate of 2.1%. In July 2016, Seattle was again the fastest-growing major U.S. city, with a 3.1% annual growth rate. Seattle is the northernmost large city in the contiguous United States.
The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the fourth-largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015.The Seattle area was inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers. Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon, on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851. The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named Seattle in 1852, in honor of Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.
Logging was Seattle's first major industry, but by the late 19th century, the city had become a commercial and shipbuilding center as a gateway to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. Growth after World War II was partially due to the local Boeing company, which established Seattle as a center for aircraft manufacturing. The Seattle area developed into a technology center from the 1980s onwards with companies like Microsoft becoming established in the region; Microsoft founder Bill Gates is a Seattleite by birth. Internet retailer Amazon was founded in Seattle in 1994, and major airline Alaska Airlines was founded in SeaTac, Washington, serving Seattle's international airport, Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. The stream of new software, biotechnology, and Internet companies led to an economic revival, which increased the city's population by almost 50,000 between 1990 and 2000.
Seattle has a noteworthy musical history. From 1918 to 1951, nearly two dozen jazz nightclubs existed along Jackson Street, from the current Chinatown/International District to the Central District. The jazz scene nurtured the early careers of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson, and others. Seattle is also the birthplace of rock musician Jimi Hendrix, as well as the origin of the bands Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters and the alternative rock movement grunge.

Regine Webster updates us on the state of disaster philanthropy
On November 7, 2019 the Center for Disaster Philanthropy released its annual 2019 Measuring the State of Disaster Philanthropy report.
The latest version captures how philanthropists are responding to disasters, and encourages them to support the full arc of a disaster, including response, recovery, preparedness, mitigation and resiliency initiatives. Data comes from 2017 which was the costliest year for major natural disasters on record, including Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria; and devastating wildfires in California, as well as major flooding events, tornadoes, and winter storms.
Tune into this MYD Global episode where we ask Regine Webster, Vice President at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) about the latest report. Regine brings a keen sense of adventure, discovery and compassion to the fields of philanthropy and humanitarian assistance, helping build bridges between those offering solutions and those in need. She served as the founding executive director of CDP, and continues to serve as a trusted resource and philanthropic force. She is also one of only a handful of people in the U.S. who have managed a dedicated disaster portfolio for a foundation, as a program officer, consultant and fellow in the Global Health and Global Development divisions of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. While there, she led the Foundation’s $15 million Emergency Relief portfolio.
Tune in to hear the latest information on where most financial donations are going to help address the entire disaster life cycle.

=======
William Henry Gates III (born October 28, 1955) is an American business magnate, investor, author, philanthropist, humanitarian, and principal founder of Microsoft Corporation. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect, while also being the largest individual shareholder until May 2014.
In 1975, Gates and Paul Allen launched Microsoft, which became the world's largest PC software company. Gates led the company as chief executive officer until stepping down in January 2000, but he remained as chairman and created the position of chief software architect for himself. In June 2006, Gates announced that he would be transitioning from full-time work at Microsoft to part-time work and full-time work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which was established in 2000. He gradually transferred his duties to Ray Ozzie and Craig Mundie. He stepped down as chairman of Microsoft in February 2014 and assumed a new post as technology adviser to support the newly appointed CEO Satya Nadella.Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. He has been criticized for his business tactics, which have been considered anti-competitive. This opinion has been upheld by numerous court rulings.Since 1987, Gates has been included in the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people, an index of the wealthiest documented individuals, excluding and ranking against those with wealth that is not able to be completely ascertained. From 1995 to 2017, he held the Forbes title of the richest person in the world all but four of those years, and held it consistently from March 2014 – July 2017, with an estimated net worth of US$89.9 billion as of October 2017. However, on July 27, 2017, and since October 27, 2017, he has been surpassed by Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, who had an estimated net worth of US$90.6 billion at the time. As of August 6, 2018, Gates had a net worth of $95.4 billion, making him the second-richest person in the world, behind Bezos.
Later in his career and since leaving Microsoft, Gates pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors. He donated large amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2009, Gates and Warren Buffett founded The Giving Pledge, whereby they and other billionaires pledge to give at least half of their wealth to philanthropy. The foundation works to save lives and improve global health, and is working with Rotary International to eliminate polio.

Category: Conferences
Runtime: 04:59:15
Description: The 2017 NIH-wide microbiome workshop will strive to cover advances that reveal the specific ways in which the microbiota influences the physiology of the host, both in a healthy and in a diseased state and how the microbiota may be manipulated, either at the community, population, organismal or molecular level, to maintain and/or improve the health of the host. The goal will be to seek input from a trans-disciplinary group of scientists to identify 1) knowledge gaps, 2) technical hurdles, 3) new approaches and 4) research opportunities that will inform the development of novel prevention and treatment strategies based on host/microbiome interactions over the next ten years.
