Visiting The California Academy of Sciences in SF (March 3, 2014)
Watch in high quality (480p). In this video, it shows me and my family's mini outing and educational adventure around the California Academy of Sciences located in San Francisco, CA.
My sister was treating us out to this place. It was our first time. Once we arrived to the California Academy of Sciences, our first stop was the Philippine Coral Reef. There, we saw a diver in a huge aquarium. They were feeding the fish. We then saw other marine life and beautiful tropical coral reefs around the Water Planet exhibits. We also saw alligator fish! Then we went to the Cypress Swamps to see Claude, the rare albino American alligator. Then we headed to the SF quakes area...where plates shift! It was a simulation. The video took the 7.9--magnitude Great San Francisco quake of 1906 simulation. Afterwards, we went to watch the DARK UNIVERSE show inside the planetarium. Too bad no video was permitted inside. After the show, we went to the Naturalist Center, where we saw animal hides, bones, turtles, and even a dinosaur bone! It was pretty neat to have touched a real historic piece. Then we proceeded to the Rainforests of the World exhibit where we saw many tropical plants, animals and the like. It really felt like the tropics inside the large dome! After the greenhouse, we just walked around and saw more marine fish and also to learn a bit more about Claude, their famous, rare albino American alligator! Our last stop was the African Hall. We saw lions, prides, and even cute swimming penguins! We then ended the day from there.
It was a gloomy, rainy day out, but we had such a wonderful time discovering and learning about astronomy, marine and land animals, tropical plants and more inside the facility!

Planning a trip to San Francisco? Learn about the top eight museums and what makes them special in this travel video. Tip: If you're traveling with kids, the interactive exhibits at The Exploratorium are educational, fun, and safe for even very young children.
San Francisco’s museum scene is among the world’s best, in terms of both variety and quality.
The two Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco -- The de Young Museum & The Legion of Honor -- shouldn’t be missed.
The de Young contains one of the best collections of American art around.
The Legion of Honor, has an excellent collection of European art. The Rodin sculptures are not to be missed.
Visit the Asian Art Museum to see one of the most extensive collections of Asian art in the world. Art and artifacts from a vast number of Asian cultures spanning thousands of years of history can be seen here.
On the other hand, the Contemporary Jewish Museum doesn’t keep a collection at all. This museum focuses on exhibitions, so there’s always something new and current.
But San Francisco’s museums aren’t restricted to art. One of the city’s best museums is the California Academy of Sciences. This extensive natural science museum has an aquarium, a rainforest exhibit, a planetarium, and much more.
The Exploratorium is another great science museum -- geared towards kids. The interactive exhibits are educational, fun, and safe even for very young children.
The Mechanical Museum is another interactive museum. Play one of the hundreds of old-fashioned penny-arcade games in the collection.
Finally, visit the Cable Car Museum to learn about the history of San Francisco’s cable cars and how they work.
San Francisco’s museums bring everyone closer to an understanding of life in San Francisco and beyond.
