On the Road with Jo: Central Coast Aquarium- The mission of the Central Coast Aquarium is to cultive a community dedicate to ocean stewardship. The Aquarium was born from a passion for the sea and community and is committed to providing opportunities centered around education, engagement and action. Based in Avila Beach, the center expands the aquarium visit by offering a fun, hands-on experience that fosters education and encourages stewardship of our oceans.
Through hands-on exhibits, outdoor excursions and laboratory lessons, the Central Coast Aquarium aims to impact everyone who walks through our doors, and positively influence their perspective toward this very important part of the natural world.

Avila Beach California and Port San Luis Walking the Area Photo Tour
Avila Beach California, Central Coast, Port San Luis, Walking Tour Photos. Avila Beach, California is a picturesque village set against the hills in a sheltered harbor. Artistic architecture and hand-crafted details provide a unique character for the village. The Avila Beach Pier has over 1,000 feet of length perfect for strolling and watching the waves or sitting at sunset. Farmers Markets, live music at the beach, surfing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sport fishing on the ocean, golfing the the Avila Beach Golf Resort, visiting the Aquarium and dining at beach area restautants are some of the activities there.
Avila Beach, California is next to Port San Luis, which features a drive-on wharf, a harbor with boats on buoys, boat charters, restaurants, fresh fish, a boat launch and boat storage. Port San Luis also has camping for RVs. Sea lions, pelicans and other marine life are seen from the pier.

Last beach stop of this trip was at the little beach town of Avila Beach, CA - by far, my favorite beach of the Central Coast. A storm was coming in, so it wasn't as pleasant as I had hoped. We ran into a playground on the way, and seeing something shiny, Ally just had to check it out.
