ComptonPALOOZA! is the Monster Truck Rally of David Compton Benefits! Accept no substitutes! A joint effort of Nashville Childrens Theatre, Tennessee Repertory Theatre, and anyone else we could get to help, proceeds benefitting the medical expenses of a highly respected actor/teacher/sometime waiter who has had enormous impact within Nashville's outstanding theatre community for 25 years, David Compton. David fell victim to an annoying heart seizure in late October and found himself awakening from a medically-induced coma having completely missed Halloween altogether. Irritated, he has bounced back to health with the assistance of a crack medical team and the implantation of some sort of nucleonic cold-fusion personal power plant device (Stark Industries part # WTF12963B44XL, patent pending). But that kind of hardware ain't cheap, folks!
Your $20 ticket price also includes The Chaffin's Barn/Wienerfest/Yazoo VIP All-Access AfterBASH!, featuring delicacies both savory and sweet, happily accompanied by cool, refreshing beer.

2015 promos updated
Cumberland County Playhouse’s 2015 Golden Anniversary Season features stories of Tennessee, the South, and families, in new comedies and musicals by nationally recognized Tennessee playwrights and songwriters. The Playhouse continues to feature strong local talent, in both new works and great family favorites like The Wizard of Oz and the professional regional premiere of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins. Unlike movies and touring shows, attending a performance at the Playhouse keeps millions of entertainment dollars in the Tennessee economy, creating performance and production jobs and career opportunities!
Tennessee playwrights Lori Fischer, Dietz Osborne and Nate Eppler have all written work that’s being seen nationwide, which in turn brings dollars back to the Volunteer State. CCP’s Golden Anniversary Season opens January 17 with Fischer’s musical, Barbara’s Blue Kitchen. A graduate of Belmont University, Fischer grew up in Nashville where her father has written songs for the likes of Reba McIntyre. Her plays are licensed by Samuel French, Inc., the oldest and largest theatrical publisher in the world.
Osborne and Eppler have productions of their comedies running across the country, licensed through their own Tennessee company, again keeping those entertainment dollars here at home. Southern Fried Funeral is relatively new, but has had multiple productions nationwide following its initial success at The Barter Theater’s Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights. Both playwrights live in Nashville, working with Nashville Rep and Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theater. Only CCP is producing Southern Fried in the Middle/East TN region this season.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Rep. Jim Cooper on Hume-Fogg Mock Election Day
On November 4, 2016, Hume-Fogg AP U.S. Government and Politics teacher Allison Halbrook once again lead the cooperative Student Government Association and Hume-Fogg teacher/administrative staff tradition of holding Mock Elections among students in concurrence with actual up and down ballot races. Leading up to Mock Election Day, students of grades 9-12 registered to vote and absentee ballots were cast. On Mock Election Day, the library was transformed into one large polling place run by Hume-Fogg students and teachers. In keeping with Tennessee state law, students cast their ballots only if registered and with photo identifications in hand. In participating in this tradition—with its deliberate processes—students learned about the nature of democracy and made their voices heard.
As the ballots were being cast, Representative Jim Cooper of Tennessee's fifth congressional district (middle) joined The Knightly News Editor in Chief Wesley Smith (right) and Staff Writer Fiona Murphey (left) for an exclusive interview. Congressman Cooper discussed policies that he felt were important to Hume-Fogg students, shared some of his plans for his next term, and commented on the fundamentally civil and cooperative spirits that make democracy great.
