Palm Desert Veterans Day 2013: Korean War Veteran, USMC Staff Sgt. Quintin Villanueva
Reports at
Staff Sgt. Quintin L. Villanueva served in the Marine Corps from July 1950 to July 1954 with the 2nd 4.5 Rocket Battalion, 8th Tank Battalion and in Korea with the 2nd Battalion 1st Marines and was wounded in action against the Chinese.
Villanueva, a retired Los Angeles Police Department captain and member of the Desert Cities Chapter, 1st Marine Division Association, was keynote speaker shortly after 11 a.m. Monday Nov. 11 at the Veterans Day ceremony at Civic Center Park in Palm Desert.
The Heatwave Jazz & Show Band of the Coachella Valley Boys & Girls Clubs performed before and after Villanueva's remarks.
