The mine has eleven levels (floors), with a vertical shaft which is over 400 feet deep. The tour takes about one hour, and goes deep into the mine. The inside of the mine has been kept as it was in it's 1870's appearance. Many of the original tools and equipment are on site. Eagle Mining Company Julian CA
This was a quick one day trip from San Diego to the Eagle Mining Company in Julian, CA. We stopped off to get fresh eggs at Demler Brothers Pine Hill Egg Ranch, had lunch at Dudley's Famous Bakery, toured the Eagle Mining Company and then had some pie at the Julian Pie Company.
Eagle Mining Company
Did you know that Julian was originally founded as a California mining camp back in the 1870's? It's not just known for apples and apple pie. You can tour two of Julian's original gold mines. Eagle and High Peak Mines. The two are combined as one. Knowledgeable guides take you deep into one mine and out the other. Later, you can try panning for gold.

VOICES HEARD IN THE EAGLE & HIGH PEAK MINE OF SAN DIEGO.
“In 1960, our owner’s grandfather, Ed Sprague met his grandmother, Ellen. The couple arrived in Julian in 1967. They learned about our property through their various real estate transactions, and saw the abandoned claims that were on the property. Fortunately for us, they had the vision and knowledge to open the Old Hardrock Tunnels, restoring them to the way they were in the 1870s. They did this to share our state’s history.
Today, the Nelson Family proudly carry the tradition set forth by Ed and Ellen Sprague. They give thanks to guests, their families, and supporters alike; and, per tradition, they keep admission at $10, just like it has been since 1968.”
The Eagle Mountain mine stands as one of the most historical gold mines during the turn of the 20th century. Although there are dozens and dozens of mines in this vicinity, the Eagle Mine is said to be one of the most successful ones, producing a ton of gold in its heyday. The mining days for this mine are long gone, but tours are still available which last around an hour. A tour guide will take you inside, letting you view historical artifacts used during the mining period, telling you colorful tales and teaching you how the men used to mine for gold. It should be noted that only cash is accepted.
Make sure to investigate outside the mine too as there are plenty of old artifacts from the past, a pet cemetery and a hiking trail behind.
The tour lasted around 20 minutes. If you are claustrophobic I would probably not recommend doing this.

Julian Travel Guide | California Travel Tips | California Ghost Towns
California travel guide Veronica Hill visits the California ghost town of Julian, San Diego, in this episode of California Travel Tips.
This charming little ghost town — located an hour from San Diego — comes alive during the fall, when it celebrates the famous Julian apple harvest. Bring along a light jacket as you explore the town's quaint stores, restaurants and delicious homemade apple pies.
Julian's mining history dates back to 1869, when San Diego experienced its first (and only) Gold Rush. Today, Main Street is filled with dozens of fun shops and attractions. You can hitch a ride on a horse and buggy, do a bit of wine tasting, or get a Western-style portrait taken at Grandpa's Old Time Photo. To learn more about Julian's mining history, join a tour at Eagle and High Peak Mine, located at the end of C Street. Train rides are available on the Smith Ranch and Julian Railroad by appointment.
Kids will enjoy panning for gold at the Julian Mining Company, or getting an old-fashioned phosphate at the Miner's Diner soda fountain. But the real draw in Julian is the apple pie, and visitors are fiercely divided on who makes the best. I'm partial to Julian Pie Company, a cozy little diner with a loyal following. Be sure to get here early, as lines quickly form out the door.
Once you've had your fill of pie, walk off the calories with a tour of Julian's pioneer cemetery and historic Gold Rush buildings. The Jacoby Building, built in 1897, was the town's original general store. The Wilcox Building, which dates back to 1872, once served as a stage coach stop and Julian's post office.
If you want to spend the night, consider staying in the Julian hotels. The Julian Gold Rush Hotel, which was built in 1897, is one of California's best B&Bs, and well worth a visit.

Trip To Stonewall Mine
I had the day off and took a trip to the local mountains. I stopped at Stonewall Mine which is located in Cuyamaca State Park.
Hoskings Ranch Julian Ca
Once upon a time, nearly 250 years ago, the materials utilized in the making of this very special home were born; only to be hand chosen centuries later by our meticulous homeowner. Early New England design was exhaustively studied; the objective to be as close to authentic as possible. 19th century Pennsylvania barnwood siding~hand hewn Northern White Pine beams~Pennsylvania Blue (flag)Stone~Long Leaf Yellow Heart Pine flooring, all meticulously installed to replicate the look and feel of the quintessential Craftsman. Built by Sumac, the home site was chosen to maximize views from every room, facilitated by 12 foot high triple hung roll up windows inspired by Jefferson’s Monticello home, that open up as doors segueing to graceful patios and verandas at both the front and back of the home. At the end of the day, kick back on the deck by the fire pit, glass of wine in hand, as the beauty of Hoskings Ranch unfolds before you.

Welcome, and thank you for stopping by our channel!
Shot almost entirely in 4K! ...so turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY deep into abandoned tunnels and mines all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hike back into them to explore and reveal there hidden secrets. Some of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower. We discuss why the miners chose these sites and we try to point out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men loose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
Dangers? Oh yes, there are allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders and snakes all find there home in abandoned mines, shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooding and collapsing rock!
We take abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly” and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob”, “Quackers” and “Bobbie” are sure to brighten your day with there comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.

California gold prospecting
California gold prospecting at Picacho gold mine in Picacho California.
This area is on the California side of the Colorado River just a little northwest of Yuma Arizona.
Picacho State Recreation Area, today is part of the California state park system and is registered as a California historic landmark.
It is believed that gold prospecting started here in the 1780, but really took off when gold veins were found in the surrounding hillsides in the 1860s.
The plaster gold-mining started out by prospectors shoveling sand and gravel onto a blanket and then shaking the blanket until just the heavier particles and gold remained.
The best gold production years here were between 1904 and 1906. At that time the gold mine at approximately 700 men working. Because of declining gold or quality the organized gold prospecting and it around 1910.
Most of the placer gold found in this area and generally in the California Southeast is very fine gold or also known as flour gold.

Hiking San Bernardino Peak from Angelus Oaks in Southern California
San Bernardino Peak is a great but difficult hike in San Bernardino Mountain Range and the San Gorgonio Wilderness. This hike is 16.5 miles round trip and it gains 4,500 feet of elevation. It is a difficult hike and not one that should be done without proper training. The peak provides amazing views of the surrounding area and it is a beautiful Southern California trail.

New Deal
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
The New Deal was a series of programs, public work projects, financial reforms and regulations enacted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the United States between 1933 and 1936. It responded to needs for relief, reform and recovery from the Great Depression. Major federal programs included the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the Civil Works Administration (CWA), the Farm Security Administration (FSA), the National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933 (NIRA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA). They provided support for farmers, the unemployed, youth and the elderly. The New Deal included new constraints and safeguards on the banking industry and efforts to re-inflate the economy after prices had fallen sharply. New Deal programs included both laws passed by Congress as well as presidential executive orders during the first term of the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The programs focused on what historians refer to as the 3 Rs: relief for the unemployed and poor, recovery of the economy back to normal levels and reform of the financial system to prevent a repeat depression. The New Deal produced a political realignment, making the Democratic Party the majority (as well as the party that held the White House for seven out of the nine presidential terms from 1933 to 1969) with its base in liberal ideas, the South, traditional Democrats, big city machines and the newly empowered labor unions and ethnic minorities. The Republicans were split, with conservatives opposing the entire New Deal as hostile to business and economic growth and liberals in support. The realignment crystallized into the New Deal coalition that dominated presidential elections into the 1960s while the opposing conservative coalition largely controlled Congress in domestic affairs from 1937 to 1964.
