Biking Across the Golden Gate Bridge from SF to Sausalito
This was my first time biking across the Golden Gate Bridge even though I've lived in the Bay Area for many years. I was surprised at how easy it was.
We took Caltrain up into SF and then biked along the Embarcadero (passing the Bay Bridge & Ferry Building), Fisherman's Wharf, Crissy Field, Fort Point, the Golden Gate Bridge, down Conzelman Road and into Sausalito. After a quick bite to eat and a short ride around town we took a ferry back to the SF Ferry Building.

Bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and ferry back to San Francisco
Beat the hills of San Francisco with a speedy little electric bike rental ????????
The most scenic way to explore San Francisco is to cruise across the Golden Gate Bridge on a bike. Keep going past the bridge and enjoy the SF skyline from Sausalito's waterfront before hopping on a ferry back to the city where you'll get some unbeatable views of Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge.

New Ferry Service Begins From Berkeley To San Francisco
For the first time in more than a decade, a new ferry route has been added to the East Bay commute, from Berkeley to San Francisco. Da Lin reports. (3/2/17)
12 Things to Know Before Biking Golden Gate Bridge
12 Things to Know Before Biking Golden Gate Bridge
Biking across San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge should be on everyone’s bucket list! It is a great activity the whole family can enjoy. We biked from Fisherman’s Wharf, through Crissy Field, Fort Mason, across the Golden Gate Bridge and into Sausalito, a quaint town in Marin. On this trip there were a few things we wish we knew before coming, so we wanted to share them with you to help you have a stress free journey!
1. Full Day Bike Rental
When biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, you’ll want to rent bikes for the full day. There are plenty of bike rental shops all around San Francisco and pricing range from about $30 USD - $40 USD per bike per day (standard bike option). We decided to rent bikes from Blazing Saddles and booked online to save an extra 20%
2. Bring Snacks + Water
For those of you who know me, you know I literally bring snacks with me everywhere I go. You will get hungry and thirsty at some point during this 8 mile bike ride and having snacks and water to energize you is a MUST.
3. Dress in layers
San Francisco weather is unpredictable, so dress in layers that you can easily put on or take off.
4. Hills
SF boasts some of the steepest hills in the world, and on this ride you will have to bike up three steep hills. But don’t fret, you can easily hop off and walk your bike up the hill.
5. Electric bike
If biking 8.0 miles doesn’t sound like fun, you can opt for an electric bike that will help you pedal when you get tired or help you up those steep hills.
6. Bring a backpack
The bikes you rent will probably comes with a little pouch to put your things in, but when you lock your bike up to and go grab a bite to eat you’ll want to keep your valuables safely with you.
7. Use your bell
Your bikes will probably come equipped with a bell. Use it. Especially when you are on the bridge itself. If gets crowded and a little ring is a nice way to tell someone you are behind them.
8. Bathrooms
If you are like me, I need to use the restroom quite frequently because I have a small bladder. On this ride, don’t fret because there are plenty of stops that have restrooms. One at Crissy Field, one at the info center before you get on the bridge and some in Sausalito too.
9. Take in the views
Relax and take your time.
10. Have lunch in Sausalito or Mill Valley
Mill Valley and Sausalito have great shops and restaurants. We ate at Napa Valley Burger Company in Sausalito and loved it! It feels so good to replenish after the bike ride!
11. Bike Parking
There are three designated bike parking areas in Sausalito. You must park your bike in these spots. The very first parking area you will see is by the ferry station. They charge $3.00 to park your bike, so we decided to bike a bit further down to the free areas. The aren’t as close, but still walking distance from the shops and restaurants and I like to save money where I can.
12. Ferry Tickets
Make sure you purchase your ferry tickets before jumping on the ferry. Our bike rental company had the ferry tickets printed out for us already, but if you didn’t get some, there is a ticket counter by the ferry line. They will not let you on the ferry without a ticket.
Those are all the tips we have for biking across the GG Bridge. We hope you get to have the opportunity to experience this iconic structure in a unique and fun way! Enjoy your ride and STAY CURIOUS!
Bike SF: Dogpatch to Larkspur Landing (1 of 3)
A Saturday ride from the Dogpatch neighborhood along the bay (through all the tourists) to the Golden Gate bridge. Over in Marin riding through Sausalito, Marin City, Mill Valley, Corte Madera, Larkspur, through the re-purposed Cal Park Hill train tunnel over to San Rafael and then back to Larkspur Landing to stop at Marin Brewing Company.

I TOOK SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TODAY
We started our day differently with an adventure into the city using public transportation and new ways of getting around. From taking the Ferry in Sausalito to the Ferry building, to taking the F Line on Embarcadero. My friend and I took the Cable Car taking us pass Lombard street into Chinatown to get dim sum. The 30 Muni was next into Union Square for us to walk over to rent the city bicycles. We got noodle soup in the Tenderloin before we used UBER back to the Powell Bart Station to get us back to the Ferry Building ending our journey. Hope everyone gets to see how fun it can be when visiting San Francisco!

Mill Valley Sausalito Bike Path Bridgeway to 101 Marin County, California
July 1,2011
Mill Valley-Sausalito Multi-purpose Path is a convenient connection between neighborhoods, schools, shopping, restaurants and a skate park. There is also an adjacent dog park, Mill Valley Dog Park. Between the skate and dog parks, on a nice day there can be all kinds of excitement and an assortment of aerobatic displays by both man and beast alike to enjoy.
The short dirt section at the north end is just a minor neighborhood connection and can easily be omitted if you are riding a bike or skating. Otherwise, the trail is mostly asphalt and turns to concrete as the trail approaches the southern end, which parallels a fairly busy roadway. Overall, the trail gets a good mix of cyclists, walkers, joggers and skaters, so brush up on the rules of the trails before you begin. You can also access the trail by way of the ferry in Sausalito, making it possible to connect with other opportunities in San Francisco and Marin County. You could even rent a bike in San Francisco and take the ferry to Sausalito. This can make for a great day of exploring the region. Although the trail is rather short, it and the nearby shoreline and art galleries are all worth exploring.
The best feature of the trail is its views of the bay as it passes through a scenic open wetland marsh area. You will see many species of birds here including the marsh wren, brown pelican, and maybe even a raptor if you are lucky. Be sure to enjoy the houseboats of Sausalito as you cruise by.
Parking is available at many of the adjoining business areas and at Sycamore Avenue. The trailhead has a public restroom .
