Kiddiewalks visits the Haas-Lilienthal House in San Francisco
A day out with Kiddiewalks visiting Japantown, Lafayette Park, and the Haas-Lilienthal House in San Francisco's Pacific Heights.
Haas Lilienthal House
Standing in Franklin Street, the Haas-Lilienthal House, “a site of national cultural and architectural significance”, is a Queen Anne Victorian architecture designed by Peter Schmidt in 1886. As a modern residence built of redwood and fir, the house tells the stories of the early immigrants presenting some insights into Victorian era in San Francisco. While withstanding the major earthquakes and devastating fire in the past and being beautifully preserved in a good condition, it was identified as one of the thirty-four inaugural National Treasures in America in 2012.

The Painted Ladies and Nob Hill- San Francisco Full City Guide - Travel & Discover
In American architecture, painted ladies are Victorian and Edwardian houses and buildings painted in three or more colors that embellish or enhance their architectural details. The term was first used for San Francisco Victorian houses by writers Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larsen in their 1978 book Painted Ladies - San Francisco's Resplendent Victorians.

Historic Plymire-Schwarz House
This video was created by the South San Francisco Public Library on behalf of the City of South San Francisco and the South San Francisco Historical Society.
This 1905 Colonial Revival originally sat at the northwest corner of Grand and Spruce Avenues. It was built by Dr. Harry (aka Henry) Garriston Plymire, one of the City’s first physicians as well as the area’s coroner. It became the first hospital located between San Francisco and San Mateo.

Top TV, Movie, Rock n Roll & Society Victorian Houses In San Francisco
One of my all-time favorite things to do is go on open houses and lookey-loo at where rich people live; especially the famous ones. San Francisco has its own version of L.A.’s star tours — but instead of plush Malibu canyon homes, ours are the grand Victorians of the 1800s. And since I feel like doing some house touring today, let’s hit some of the top famous Victorians in San Francisco.
