Kaas Pathar is located in Satara District of Maharashtra, India. Kaas plateau is a plateau located around 25 km from Satara and 20 km away from Northern part of Koyana Sanctuary. Kas Pathar also known as Valley of Flowers. Kas Pathar named after Kas Village which is located near Kas Pathar.
Kaas Pathar falls under the Sahyadri Sub Cluster of the Western Ghats, and it became a part of a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2012. Kaas Pathar is a plateau made from volcanic rocks in the Satara district of Maharashtra, and comes under the biosphere of the Western Ghats.

Kaas plateau is a small hamlet in Maharashtra. Nestled in Sahyadri's, this place is a creation of mother nature.. Every year in september, variety of flowers come up and fill the plateau with its colours as if it overpowers the land itself. Truely spectacular and Incredible India.

Kaas Pathar (कास पठार) is a plateau of flowers located 30 km away from Satara also known as the Valley of Flowers in Maharashtra.
This 1000 hectare plateau has only recently gained popularity since it was declared a bio-diversity site by UNESCO in June 2012.
Kaas lake (built 100 years ago) is a perennial source of Water supply for western part of Satara city by gravity.
Route from Mumbai: Drive down the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and NH4 upto Satara. Ask for directions for Kaas Road. The distance is about 30km from Satara and the drive up to the valley is quite picturesque.
Best time to visit : Between the second week of September and the first week of October.

Take a train or bus from Pune / Mumbai to Satara.
To reach Kaas plateau, take a bus from Satara bus stand. Ask for a bus going towards Bamnauli or Tetli; which leaves beginning from 6 AM. It will drop you at the Kaas Plateau at around 6:30 AM.

Kaas plateau is located in Satara district of Maharashtra. It's 22 km from satara.kaas pathar is a plateau on the hill top with a variety of wild flowers & lush green carpet all over. Kass plateau is made of porous rocks with beautiful tiny flower beds. The best to visit is post rainy season that is September to October as the flowers blooms for a very short period of time. Nestled in Sahyadri's, this place is a Awsummm ...nature lovers would really love it.. Every year variety of flowers come up and fill the plateau with its colours. Entry fees is really reasonable 100 rs for Sunday's & holidays & 50 rs for weekdays . Kids bellow 12 yrs are not charged. Y3can request a guide at the main entry. Please to carry water, snacks, sun glasses, cap, umbrella & do wear sports shoes as we need to Walk long distance nature walk. It's a request to not overstep on flowers or litter their. From the main entry the lake is 1.5 km far so be energetic & hydrated. You can book online tickets or on the counter as well,but in holidays it's better to book your time slot. If you are visiting from outside of Maharashtra than you can plan for 3 to 4 days trip & visit the nearby popular places like mahabaleshwar, Panchgini,waterfall,mapro garden etc & enjoy the awsum weather. Kaas Plateau has more than 150 or more types of flowers, shrubs and grasses. The orchids bloom here for a period of 3–4 weeks during this season. Kaas plateau is a World Natural Heritage site, part of the Sahyadri Sub-cluster. To control possible damage by tourists, the number of visitors to the plateau has been restricted to 3,000 per day.In September, some of the most common flowering plants are Eriocaulon spp., Utricularia spp., Pogostemon deccanensis, Senecio grahamii, Impatiens lawii and Dipcadi montanum.
The plateau experiences a natural cycle of extreme conditions, with wet water-logged cool monsoons, very dry hot summer (45 °C) and dry winter (5 °C). The soil is acidic only a thin layer on top of laterite rock underneath. Extreme seasonality influences the ecology of the site.
