Bradbury is a small city in the San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles county. The city was founded by Lewis Leonard Bradbury, a gold-mining millionaire. The Bradbury name is known throughout Los Angeles, specifically because of the famous Bradbury Building in Downtown LA, commissioned by the family in 1893.
With a population of just over 1,000, the city has three distinct areas: Bradbury Estates which is a gated community consisting of 5 acre minimum estates; Woodlyn Lane, a gated community with 2 acre minimum lots, and the rest of the city which has lots ranging from 7,500 square feet to an acre. Known for its careful preservation of its serene rural setting, a large portion of the properties in Bradbury Estates and Woodlyn Lane are zoned for horses, and several ranches still exist today.
Bradbury has a unique reputation as one of the most exclusive and expensive neighborhoods in the country. In 2010, Forbes Magazine placed one of Bradbury’s zip codes, 91008, as the most expensive zip code in America. The name change speaks to the growing popularity of the company’s various coffees, iced drinks and frozen drinks.
“We collaborated with the franchisee to come up with the location’s signage, which is unique to the Pasadena restaurant and reflects our franchisee’s desire to reinforce Dunkin’s beverage-led focus,” the company said in a statement.
The restaurant at 275 S. Lake Ave. will be owned and operated by Bell Gardens-based Prell Restaurant Group as part of Dunkin’ Donuts’ ongoing expansion into California. Prell currently has Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Downey, Whittier and Bell Gardens and additional restaurants are planned for South El Monte, West Covina, Baldwin Park, Compton, Hawthorne and Bellflower.
“The signage at our Pasadena restaurant is unique to this specific location,” franchise owner Coby Sonenshine said. “No other locations with this signage have been announced.” (Pasadena Star-News)

Indigenous culture and colonization[edit]
The original inhabitants of Pasadena and surrounding areas were members of the Native American Hahamog-na tribe, a branch of the Tongva Nation. They spoke the Tongva language (part of the Uto-Aztecan languages group) and had lived in the Los Angeles Basin for thousands of years.[21] Tongva dwellings lined the Arroyo Seco (Los Angeles County) in present day Pasadena and south to where it joins the Los Angeles River and along other natural waterways in the city.
The native people lived in thatched, dome-shape lodges. They lived on a diet of acorn meal, seeds and herbs,venison, and other small animals. They traded for ocean fish with the coastal Tongva. They made cooking vessels from steatite soapstone from Catalina Island. The oldest transportation route still in existence in Pasadena is the old Tongva foot trail, also known as the Gabrielino Trail, that follows the west side of the Rose Bowl and the Arroyo Seco past the Jet Propulsion Laboratory into the San Gabriel Mountains. The trail has been in continuous use for thousands of years. An arm of the trail is also still in use in what is now known as Salvia Canyon. When the Spanish occupied the Los Angeles Basin they built the San Gabriel Mission and renamed the local Tongva people Gabrielino Indians, after the name of the mission. Today, several bands of Tongva people live in the Los Angeles area.

Old Pasadena, often referred to as Old Town Pasadena or just Old Town, is the original commercial center of Pasadena, a city in California, United States that arose from one of the most prosperous areas of the state, and had a latter day revitalization after a period of decay.
Old Pasadena began as the center of an industrial hub that gave rise to Caltech, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Beckman Instruments, Aerojet and numerous other important companies.[citation needed] The large concentration of such companies in the area gave it the nickname Athens of the West
The area was also an artistic center, the home to Andy Warhol's west coast debut, the Pasadena Museum of Modern Art (one of the earliest modern art museums in the country, now the Norton Simon Museum), and before that a center of suffragist and pacifist movements, and other liberal causes. By the late 1940s, the downtown area was blighted by flophouses, dive bars and pawn shops. It later became a hippie destination, with head shops, adult bookstores and massage parlors. By the late 1980s, Old Pasadena was undergoing a period of urban renewal and regeneration.

The Arroyo Seco Parkway, also known as the Pasadena Freeway, is the first freeway in the Western United States.
It connects Los Angeles with Pasadena alongside the Arroyo Seco seasonal river. It is notable not only for being the first, mostly opened in 1940, but for representing the transitional phase between early parkways and modern freeways.
It conformed to modern standards when it was built, but is now regarded as a narrow, outdated roadway.
A 1953 extension brought the south end to the Four Level Interchange in downtown Los Angeles and a connection with the rest of the freeway system.
The road remains largely as it was on opening day, though the plants in its median have given way to a steel guard rail, and most recently to concrete barriers, and it now carries the designation State Route 110, not historic U.S. Route 66.
Between 1954 and 2010, it was officially designated the Pasadena Freeway. In 2010, as part of plans to revitalize its scenic value and improve safety, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) restored the original name to the roadway.
All the bridges built during parkway construction remain, as do four older bridges that crossed the Arroyo Seco before the 1930s.
The Arroyo Seco Parkway is designated a State Scenic Highway, National Civil Engineering Landmark, and National Scenic Byway. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

???? Drive America's Highways for 10 miles south along the Arroyo Seco Parkway (California Highway 110) from Pasadena to Los Angeles in California ????️
The Arroyo Seco Parkway, also known as the Pasadena Freeway, is the first freeway in the Western United States. Originally part of Route 66, the route is now known as California Highway 110 and presently exists only from Pasadena to Los Angeles, with the highway being Interstate 110 south of Interstate 10.
This video starts at the north end of the parkway at the interchange with Orange Grove Ave, the first full interchange on the parkway. Heading south, we parallel (and sometimes dip into) Hermon Park (Arroyo Seco Park) as we enter the City of Los Angeles.
Leaving the park, we soon reach the interchange with Interstate 5 and Elysian Park, where, if you were traveling northbound you would drive through some really neat tunnels, but we don't have that video (Help us get this video with a purchase from our Trading Post or Sponsorship with our Adopt a Route program.)
Around this time, you get the first good look at downtown LA (see the cover photo) as we cross the interchange with the 101 Freeway (US-101) north of downtown. We make our way along the western edge of downtown before ending the video on the westbound ramp to Interstate 10, just southwest of downtown LA.
