Exploring San Francisco || Lyon Street Steps
The adventure truly begins @ 2:50
I've realized that despite living in San Francisco my ENTIRE LIFE there are huge touristy chunks of San Francisco that I've never seen, been to, or explored before so I decided to start chronicling my attempt at exploring some of San Francisco's touristy sites starting with the Lyon Street Steps.

Outdoor Workouts in SF - Lyon Street Steps
San Francisco's Lyon Street Steps boast the perfect steps for a great outdoor workout in the sun. They are 332 perfectly landscaped steps that go from steep to gradual, then steep again.
The Lyon Street Steps connect Cow Hollow to Pac Heights, bordering the Presidio forest and just off Billionaire's Row (2600-3000 Broadway st), where you'll find the $30 million+ homes of Oracle founder Larry Ellison (one of his), Gordon Getty, the son of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, Mimi Haas of the Levi Strauss Haas family and Zynga founder Mark Pincus.
The steps start at the Princess Diaries house (2601 Lyon and Green streets). At the top of the steps (Broadway/Lyon streets), it provides a spectacular view of the Palace of Fine Arts dome.
Vallejo Street splits the stairs, where they get wider. Just up from Vallejo Street, a Heart of San Francisco set into a flat flower bed announces the home of US Senator Dianne Feinstein.

California Walking Tours - filbert steps, Coit Tower - San Francisco
This is the Walking Tour video around the famous tourist spotCoit Tower and filbert steps in San Francisco.
About Coit Tower:
Coit Tower is a 210-foot (64 m) tower in the Telegraph Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California, offering panoramic views over the city and the bay. The tower, in the city's Pioneer Park, was built between 1932 and 1933 using Lillie Hitchcock Coit's bequest to beautify the city of San Francisco. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 29, 2008.
The art deco tower, built of unpainted reinforced concrete, was designed by architects Arthur Brown, Jr. and Henry Howard. The interior features fresco murals in the American Social Realism style, painted by 25 different on-site artists and their numerous assistants, plus two additional paintings installed after creation off-site.
Also known as the Coit Memorial Tower, it was dedicated to the volunteer firemen who had died in San Francisco's five major fires. Although an apocryphal story claims that the tower was designed to resemble a fire hose nozzle due to Coit's affinity with the San Francisco firefighters of the day, the resemblance is coincidental.
About Filbert Steps:
Filbert Street in San Francisco, California starts at Lyon Street on the east edge of The Presidio and runs east, crossing Van Ness Avenue and Columbus Avenue. It ends on Telegraph Hill at Kearny Street below Coit Tower and eventually resumes as a pedestrian stairway known as the Filbert Street Steps.
The Filbert Street Steps descend the east slope of Telegraph Hill along the line where Filbert Street would be if the hill weren't so steep. The steps run through the Grace Marchant Garden, which resident Grace Marchant started in 1949 and is now tended to and paid for by the residents of the street. From there, the steps run down to an eastern stub of Filbert Street and the walkway through the plaza to The Embarcadero. Many houses in this residential neighborhood are accessible only from the steps. As on paved streets, several fire hydrants and a solitary parking meter are located along the steps.
San Francisco Lyon Street Stairway Walk
I'm STILL working on recording the audiobook of Out, my novel, so here's another excerpt with footage of the real life Lyon's Street stairway walk referenced in the book.
Also, soon I'll have a handy, foldable, pocket-sized map of the stairway walks from the book as mentioned in this video.
