The morning market in Takayama along Miya River (Miyagawa) is on the itinerary of everybody visiting Takayama in Gifu Prefecture.

Takayama is one of the tourist cities located in Gifu prefecture in Japan. Renowned for many years in Japan for its festivals and dishes, it has been part of the classic tourist circuit for some years, borrowed by apparently more and more visitors.
Nicknamed the little Kyoto because of its geographical configuration and its historical heritage, Takayama has an undeniable charm that has nothing to envy to his big sister.
On a human scale, this city of a little less than 100,000 inhabitants stretches for a few kilometers in the heart of the Japanese Alps. The mountain setting gives the city an extra cachet, and from our point of view, Takayama is one of the cities to visit if you want to discover Japan of yesteryear. The downside of this success is obviously the massive influx of tourists throughout the year.
In this video we show the modern part of Takayama city : the Kokubunji Dori, Yasugawa dôri,Honmachidôri , Eki mae Chuo dori, the miyagawa morning market, the miyagawa river, the Nakahashi bridge. An Autumn Wayfaring around the traditional Japanese village of Hida-Takayama 飛騨高山 in Gifu Prefecture, Central Japan, featuring the must-visits Nakabashi Bridge, Miyagawa River, Old Town, Sanmachi Street, Morning Market, Takayama Jinya, and my stay in a local Japanese home. The village was used as an inspiration in the famous Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name).
Hida-Takayama is a convenient place to stay for a few days to a few weeks as tourist locations such as The World Heritage Shirakawago Village and Gokayama Village, Kamikochi, Shinhotaka Ropeway, etc. can be easily reached by riding a Nouhi Bus in 45 mins. ----

Hida Beef - tried the ones shops sell on stick and ones from the grocery which I cooked on my own
Gelato Ice Cream - Ramune flavor :) Ramune is a famous Japanese soda
*Hida Stuffed Bun wasn't enjoyable for me :p
didnt really get to try much since i always leave before 7am and come back at Takayama around 8pm (if I remember correctly)

Takayama is an ancient city where you can feel the warmth of wood and people located 3.5 hours by train from Nagoya station, a hub station of Central Japan.
This town commands a view of the mounts of Hida, known as the “Japan Alps”, and is called “little Kyoto in Hida” since it has many temples and shrines as well as wooden houses, craft shops and sake breweries.
We’ve found this little friendly shop that sells peanuts coated in Japanese famous flavours such as green tea, black sesame and red beans. It’s powdery and tasty on the outside and really crunchy on the inside.

Takayama - a taste of the countryside in the Japanese highlands
Takayama is a small town in the Japanese Alps. Many parts of the town are listed as heritage buildings made of wood. One of the main attractions is the Hida Folk Village which is a collection of traditional buildings brought together into one location. A small river divides the town into two and it is well worth a walk along the banks of the river which is teeming with fish and inhabited by Blue Heron and other birds
