March 16, 2017 - Woody Cozad, President, Cozad Company
Our Speaker this week was Woody Cozad, President, Cozad Company. His topic was on It's Time to Face the Beast: Reforming the Regulatory State.
With more than 30 years of political and legal experience, Woody ensures client interests are protected and enhanced at the state and federal level. Prior to founding Cozad Company, Woody practiced law with Stinson Morrison Hecker for more than 20 years. Woody acted as national coordinating counsel for Travelers Insurance Company and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and worked extensively with the U.S. Department of Transportation. He also served as general counsel for the largest property and casualty insurance liquidation in U.S. history.
Woody served as chairman for the Missouri Republican Party from 1995 to 1999. Under his leadership, the party coordinated key campaigns to shift control of the Missouri Congressional delegation to the Republican Party for the first time in the state’s history.
In 1991, Woody was appointed as a member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. During his six-year tenure, he guided the reorganization of the University systems’ finances. As a result, MU received the highest possible bond rating from the two major industry rating agencies.
Former Missouri Governor John Ashcroft appointed Woody chairman of the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission in 1985. During his term, Woody helped persuade Missouri voters to approve a fuel tax initiative for the first time in three decades. Woody also worked under former Missouri Governor Kit Bond as chairman of the Missouri Health and Educational Facilities Authority. In 1982, the authority issued a $1.2 billion in bonds for hospitals and public schools.
Woody is currently a board member of the Missouri Transportation Development Council and has been recognized by The Federalist Society for his contributions to law and public policy.
Woody earned a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in 1960. He earned a law degree from the University of Missouri in 1972. In 1978, Woody married Linda Hickerson of Independence, Mo. Linda has served as president of the Quality Hill Playhouse, board member of the Missouri Repertory Theatre, and president of the Junior Service League of Independence and of the Junior League of Kansas City.
Crossroads Academy - The Local Show
This week, you might say the theme is school, or what we do when it finally lets out for the summer!
We'll start by introducing you to a new charter school that lots of us are just beginning to learn about--The Crossroads Academy. Sponsored by the University of Central Missouri, it is wrapping up its first year in operation, offering grades K-5. Eventually, they'll expand to K-8.
Despite the name, you won't find it in the Crossroads. This school that embraces what they term 21st Century Learning is actually smack dab in the middle of downtown.
Crossroads Academy, by the way, defines the boundaries of downtown for its student body as the Missouri River to Linwood, State Line to Woodland. Classes for next year, including the addition of 6th grade classes, are already filled up. There is currently a waiting list.

prebuilt homes -Off grid cabin - tiny house - options you can afford for 10k
They make these in every state! The last video was in NC this is South West OK. This cabin is as affordable as a car payment and you own it! There are tons of deals like these all over the country. You don't just have to buy from this one person. Shop around! I did this video to show people that their are other options out there. Buying a tiny house from a manufacturer like this saves you money because they get the wood at a highly discounted price because they buy in bulk. So you get a huge savings on materials and labor as well. In my opinion the most bang for your buck is to buy a pretty fabricated house like this and finish the interior yourself.

Chicago ( (listen), locally also ), officially the City of Chicago, is the third most populous city in the United States. As of the 2017 census-estimate, Chicago has a population of 2,716,450, which makes it the most populous city in both the state of Illinois and the Midwestern United States. It is the county seat of Cook County, the second most populous county in the United States. Chicago is the principal city of the Chicago metropolitan area, which is often referred to as Chicagoland. The Chicago metropolitan area has nearly 10 million people, is the third-largest in the United States, the fourth largest in North America, and the third largest metropolitan area in the world by land area.
Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837 near a portage between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed and grew rapidly in the mid-nineteenth century. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which destroyed several square miles and left more than 100,000 homeless, the city made a concerted effort to rebuild. The construction boom accelerated population growth throughout the following decades, and by 1900 Chicago was one of the five largest cities in the world. During this period, Chicago made noted contributions to urban planning and zoning standards, including new construction styles (including the Chicago School of architecture), the development of the City Beautiful Movement, and the steel-framed skyscraper.Chicago is an international hub for finance, commerce, industry, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. It was the site of the creation of the first standardized futures contracts at the Chicago Board of Trade, which today is the largest and most diverse derivatives market in the world, generating 20% of all volume in commodities and financial futures. O'Hare International Airport is the one of the busiest airports in the world, and the region also has the largest number of U.S. highways and railroad freight. In 2012, Chicago was listed as an alpha global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and it ranked seventh in the entire world in the 2017 Global Cities Index. Chicago has the fourth-largest gross metropolitan product in the world—generating about $670.5 billion according to September 2017 estimates—ranking it after the metropolitan areas of Tokyo, New York City, and Los Angeles, and ranking ahead of number five London and number six ...

Amelia Mary Earhart (, born July 24, 1897; disappeared July 2, 1937) was an American aviation pioneer and author. Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She received the United States Distinguished Flying Cross for this accomplishment. She set many other records, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots. In 1935, Earhart became a visiting faculty member at Purdue University as an advisor to aeronautical engineering and a career counselor to women students. She was also a member of the National Woman's Party and an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment.During an attempt to make a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937 in a Purdue-funded Lockheed Model 10-E Electra, Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. Fascination with her life, career, and disappearance continues to this day.
