The Will Rogers Follies at Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater
Good Company Players presents The Will Rogers Follies. On stage at Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater January 12 - March 12, 2017. Rated PG
559-266-9494 / 800-371-4747
This show-stopping, eye-popping, heart warming salute to an American icon will take you back to a time when things were – not so very different from today! It’s all in good fun as America’s beloved humorist shares his folksy wit and wisdom in a sensational musical revue.
A part-Cherokee cowboy from Oklahoma who never finished high school, Will Rogers went on to become a newspaper columnist, social commentator and the biggest, most popular, most highly paid star of every existing medium of his time – stage, screen, radio and print. Famed for saying “I never met a man I didn’t like,” the feeling was mutual; the world adored Will Rogers. Rogers’ good-natured ribbing of politicians, gangsters, celebrities – and himself – was laced with kindness, compassion and honesty.
This GCP production of The Will Rogers Follies is directed by Dan Pessano and features Ted Nunes, Abigail Nolte, Caitlyn Lopez, Greg Ruud, Tim Fletcher, Hannah Awbrey, Gigi Dickerson, London Garcia, Maria Monreal, Mallory Parker, Jana Price, Chase Stubblefield, Alex Figueroa, Tim Smith, & Shawn Williams.
South Pacific at Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater
Good Company Players presents South Pacific. On stage at Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater March 19 - May 17, 2015. Rated PG
559-266-9494 / 800-371-4747
The stirring story and masterful score of South Pacific illuminates the heroism, humor and heartbreak of the American military men and women serving in WWII. The story centers around a nurse from Arkansas stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. When she falls in love with a wealthy and sophisticated French planter and meets his bi-racial children, she must confront the reality of her own prejudice. With interwoven storylines of a U.S. lieutenant smitten by a young Tonkinese woman and the outrageous antics of lonely, love-starved Seabees, this wonderfully-wrought saga of Americans stationed in a foreign land is as relevant today as when it first took Broadway by storm.
The extraordinary score by Rodgers and Hammerstein includes some of the best-known music in theater history, with songs like, Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, Bali Ha'i, There Is Nothin' Like A Dame, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and Honeybun to name a few.
This GCP production of South Pacific is directed by Dan Pessano and features Eric Bailey, Kirstin Bangs, Logan Carnation, Cj Dion, Janet Glaude, Jordan Litz, and Greg Ruud

The neighborhood is traditionally considered to be the center of Fresno's African-American community. It is culturally diverse and also includes significant Mexican-American and Asian-American (principally Hmong or Laotian) populations.
Woodward Park : In the north eastern part of Fresno, Woodward Park was founded by the late Ralph Woodward, a long-time Fresno resident.

Randy and Travis: #WeAreUCP
If they don't know something, just ask. I won't bite your head off, just ask me if you want me to help you understand. - Travis
Sometimes, we judge people by the way they look. I think Randy and Travis are two people who will prove you wrong. - Steve
Thank you to Tavia and Angel with Fresno State's MCJ PR Marketing class. They interviewed Travis and Randy about their experience with UCP and asked them what they want people to know about people with disabilities. They also chatted with Steve, who let's us know that we shouldn't judge people purely based on what we see on the outside...our students tend to break through stereotypes.

To add to the hilarious complications, each one falls in love with the other's ward and each refuses to give permission to the other because of their deceptive characters. Suspense: Crime Without Passion / The Plan / Leading Citizen of Pratt County
A crime of passion, or crime passionnel, in popular usage, refers to a violent crime, especially murder, in which the perpetrator commits the act against someone because of sudden strong impulse such as sudden rage or heartbreak rather than as a premeditated crime. The act, as is suggested by the name (crime passionnel - from French language) is often associated with the history of France. However, such crimes have existed and continue to exist in most cultures.
A crime of passion refers to a criminal act in which the perpetrator commits a crime, especially murder or assault, against someone because of sudden strong impulse such as sudden rage or heartbreak rather than as a premeditated crime. A typical crime of passion might involve an aggressive pub-goer who assaults another guest following an argument or a husband who discovers his wife has made him a cuckold and proceeds to brutally batter or even kill his wife and the man with whom she was involved.
In the United States civil courts, a crime of passion is referred to as temporary insanity. This defense was first used by U.S. Congressman Daniel Sickles of New York in 1859 after he had killed his wife's lover, Philip Barton Key, but was most used during the 1940s and 1950s.
In some countries, notably France, crime passionnel (or crime of passion) was a valid defense during murder cases; during the 19th century, some cases could be a custodial sentence for two years for the murderer, while the spouse was dead; this ended in France as the Napoleonic code was updated in the 1970s so that a specific father's authority upon his whole family was over.
Suspense: Murder Aboard the Alphabet / Double Ugly / Argyle Album
The program's heyday was in the early 1950s, when radio actor, producer and director Elliott Lewis took over (still during the Wilcox/Autolite run). Here the material reached new levels of sophistication. The writing was taut, and the casting, which had always been a strong point of the series (featuring such film stars as Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Henry Fonda, Humphrey Bogart, Judy Garland, Ronald Colman, Marlene Dietrich, Eve McVeagh, Lena Horne, and Cary Grant), took an unexpected turn when Lewis expanded the repertory to include many of radio's famous drama and comedy stars — often playing against type — such as Jack Benny. Jim and Marian Jordan of Fibber McGee and Molly were heard in the episode, Backseat Driver, which originally aired February 3, 1949.
The highest production values enhanced Suspense, and many of the shows retain their power to grip and entertain. At the time he took over Suspense, Lewis was familiar to radio fans for playing Frankie Remley, the wastrel guitar-playing sidekick to Phil Harris in The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show. On the May 10, 1951 Suspense, Lewis reversed the roles with Death on My Hands: A bandleader (Harris) is horrified when an autograph-seeking fan accidentally shoots herself and dies in his hotel room, and a vocalist (Faye) tries to help him as the townfolk call for vigilante justice against him.
With the rise of television and the departures of Lewis and Autolite, subsequent producers (Antony Ellis, William N. Robson and others) struggled to maintain the series despite shrinking budgets, the availability of fewer name actors, and listenership decline. To save money, the program frequently used scripts first broadcast by another noteworthy CBS anthology, Escape. In addition to these tales of exotic adventure, Suspense expanded its repertoire to include more science fiction and supernatural content. By the end of its run, the series was remaking scripts from the long-canceled program The Mysterious Traveler. A time travel tale like Robert Arthur's The Man Who Went Back to Save Lincoln or a thriller about a death ray-wielding mad scientist would alternate with more run-of-the-mill crime dramas.
