Denali National Park Sled Dog Demonstration
Watching the dogs take a quick run in June, 2015.
Sled dogs in Denali, Alaska
Jeff King, four-time winner of the Iditarod, and his sled dogs in Denali, Alaska in June 2013. Alaska was having a heat wave when we were there. It was so hot, they had sprinklers to cool off the dogs, and was too hot for them to run their regular training route. They only ran a short distance and returned. The dogs were not pulling the weight of the ATV. All the dogs started barking excitedly because they wanted to be chosen to run with Jeff. They have to take turns. It was deafening!

Denali Sled Dog Show
This was a demonstration presented by the rangers at the Denali State Park in Alaska. Considering that this was summer, and thus no snow to help ease things along, those dogs definitely had some pulling power!
Kind of amusing to see/hear how worked up the other dogs were seeing that they weren't able to come out and pull too. Heh
Dogsledding in Denali - Alaska Trip 2015
We had the wonderful opportunity to spend 4 days dog sledding through Denali National Park in January 2015. The dogs were incredible and very well cared for. Our guide was great, and we learned so much that we can apply to our own training.

Alaska 2018 Denali National Park
We spent 6 days in Denali National Park. Exploring on foot, we hiked the trails near the Riley Creek Campground. Taking the park shuttle, on two different days, we went into the interior of the park. Finally, utilizing the campground shuttle we went to the dog sled demonstration. The weather was partly cloudy with drizzles in the afternoon, and an occasional sunny day.
