Taylor Creek South Lake Tahoe CA - Northern California Sierra Nevada - Kokanee Salmon Spawn Spawning
Taylor Creek is located in South Lake Tahoe CA - Northern California Sierra Nevada mountains. Taylor Creek is located along side Hwy/Highway 50 and Hwy/Highway 89 traveling towards Emerald Bay or Emerald Bay State Park. Kokanee Salmon spawn, fishes spawning. There were literally thousands and thousands of fishes flocked together in a creek below a bridge in South Lake Tahoe CA (Northern California USA) during the first part of fall or autumn season. What a treat to watch a bunch of red colored fishes all in one little area. This is where the bear or bears have get some food or meal before they hibernate and hide in the mountain for the winter days/months. Here in Taylor Creek is the feeding ground for the bears. Majority of the fishes spend their lives in Lake Tahoe but they go here in Taylor Creek to spawn.

Interpreting the Natural World at Lake Tahoe's Taylor Creek
Here is a brief walk through of the Rainbow Trail at the US Forest Service’s Taylor Creek Visitor Center on the southwestern shore of Lake Tahoe. Here I focus on the neat interpretive elements along this short (0.5 mile) trail. This is a great and fun way to learn about Lake Tahoe and it’s various ecological communities. It is free and open year round.
You will find the Visitor center at:
35 Visitor Center Road
South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
It is a few miles south of Emerald Bay.
Their website is:
Hike Tahoe - Taylor Creek to Fallen Leaf Dam (Kokanee Salmon season) 2016
Come along for a hike along Taylor Creek, from the Visitor's Center to Fallen Leaf Lake Dam...It's the fall and that means it's time for the Kokanee salmon to swim upstream to spawn...Watch closely and in the first minute you'll see 3 salmon ford an upstream segment and you'll also see a Merganser duck swallow a salmon whole...Toward the end you'll see several salmon try to jump over the dam into Fallen Leaf Lake...This video, the first in a series on Lake Tahoe hikes, was shot in October & November 2016...

Kokanee Salmon festival at Taylor Creek
I went to the 22nd annual kokanee salmon festival at the Taylor Creek visitor's center, learned a lot about the life cycle of these Sockeye salmon relatives in Lake Tahoe and got this awesome footage of the fish in our unique stream profile chamber where you can see the fish spawn in their natural environment and still have an aquarium-style view.
Tahoe South's Kokanee Salmon Festival
Celebrate the annual fall migration of the Kokanee salmon during the Fall Fish Fest at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center.
The Visitor Center is located three miles north of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89. The festival encourages participation by children and their parents in a wide variety of educational and entertaining activities. Join the fun and participate in this free family event which has become one of the most fascinating educational and wildlife viewing events in Northern California.

LAKE Tahoe 2020 Part-1 | Things To Do In South Lake Tahoe | FIT TRAVELLER | Daily Vlogs | California
Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, straddling the border of California and Nevada. It’s known for its beaches and ski resorts. On the southwest shore, Emerald Bay State Park contains the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm. Along the lake’s northeast side, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park includes Sand Harbor Beach and Spooner Lake, a gateway to the long-distance Tahoe Rim Trail.
Lake Tahoe is a major tourist attraction in both Nevada and California. It is home to winter sports, summer outdoor recreation, and scenery enjoyed throughout the year. Snow and ski resorts are a significant part of the area's economy and reputation.
Sand Harbor is one of the top 10 beaches in the Tahoe area and is one of the best places to go swimming. The water is shallow toward the beaches and gradually gets deeper, so it's great for smaller children. There are piles of granite boulders along the corners of the beaches where you can practice some cool jumps.
Hitchhiking is quite common around Tahoe and generally safe. ... Bears are common around Lake Tahoe, and though rarely dangerous they can be a nuisance.
Lake Tahoe gets an average of 250 to 300 sunny days a year. Humidity is very low, especially in summer. Water temperatures range from 32-degrees in winter to 68-degrees in the summer.
