Tien Hau Temple and Waverly Place
There is no taking of photographs at Tien Hau Temple in San Francisco's Chinatown, so I stood outside on the sidewalk on Waverly Place and taped it. Tien Hau is on the top floor of the building on your left in the film. The music is coming from the community center on the floor underneath the temple. People walk by speaking one of any number of Chinese languages. The final sweep is down towards the end of Waverly Plave.

A Look Inside the Renovated Oakland California Temple
The Oakland California Temple is an enduring Bay Area landmark that shines like a beacon from the Oakland Hills, directly across from San Francisco. A lengthy renovation was just completed on the 55-year-old temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The public is now invited to see inside the modernism-style temple that hasn't had an open house since its original completion in 1964.

Thrillist - Southern Pacific Brewing - San Francisco, CA
Opening tomorrow in what used to be a machine factory in the Mission, this gargantuan brewery 'n pub is part gritty urban warehouse, part beautiful German beer garden space, holding up to 200 revelers in an interior 'scaped with towering indoor trees sprouting from poured concrete floors, and a giant wall of windows, which you should steer clear of due to its tendency to crash.
Once inside, you'll choose either high-top, reclaimed-wooden communals on the main floor, or seating on the overlooking mezzanine, where you can enjoy modern American fare (like crab fritters with avocado chips or a wit beer-braised pork banh mi) from an Osteria Coppa-trained chef, virtually all of which'll be heavily infused with house beers, but not House beers, unless you want to get really Wilde.
A former Speakeasy wunderkind'll oversee the brew's birth in 15-barrel fermenters before it's served at a room-length bar with a corrugated tin roof and 20 different taps built into a steel I-beam. Six of em'll be pouring SPB's own liquid-blanketers which, to start, will include a pale ale, an IPA, a double IPA, a porter, a blonde, and a wit, potentially marking the last time you'll ever see blonde and wit in one place.
And in the coming weeks, SPB will expand its on-tap offerings to include a Belgian ale, a Chardonnay barrel-aged wit for SF Beer Week, and a Red, which, coincidentally, is also what you see when you're greeted with the Blue Screen of Death.

Wise Sons Deli - San Francisco
January 29, 2011 at a Wise Sons Deli pop up brunch with Off the Grid, they make just about everything but the smoked salmon by hand. The breads, corned beef, cream cheese. So good, worth coming to San Francisco for this deli run by Evan and Leo. They still don't have a permanent location.

Wvl Lion Dance.AVI
The Year of the Tiger is celebrated at Weaverville Joss House with the traditional Chinese Lion Dance. Located in historic Weaverville, CA, the county seat for Trinity County, the Weaverville Joss House, a Taoist temple, is the oldest continuously used Chinese temple in California. On display are art objects, pictures, mining tools, and weapons used in the 1854 Tong War. This Taoist temple is still a place of worship and a fascinating look into the role played by Chinese immigrants in early California history. The Joss House was built in 1874 as a replacement for another that had burned.
Satanism in the Army and Zombies in San Francisco with Douglas Dietrich
Child abuse, sexual depravity and the cult of Set and Satanism have all been uncovered in the US Army base at the Presidio in San Francisco. We speak with former army researcher Douglas Dietrich about his experience with Lieutenant Col. Michael Aquino and how the military put hundreds of children at risk of disease and damage on this Buzzsaw interview hosted by Sean Stone.
GUEST BIO:
For eight years, Douglas Dietrich was a Research Librarian for the Department of Defense at El Presidio Real de San Francisco Military Base. There, along with his primary duty of document destruction, he alleges he was assigned to locate and access incredibly rare occult grimoires for the officially recognized Satanic Chaplain of the United States Army, Lieutenant Colonel Michael A. Aquino. Dietrich is a writer, speaker and activist.
