UNBELIEVABLY LOUD Montgomery Hydraulic Elevator-Westfield Downtown Plaza-Sacramento, CA
My favorite elevator that no longer exists!! Oh how I miss you so much!!
Glass Elevator Demolition-Montgomery Hydraulic Elevator @ Downtown Plaza Mall-Sacramento,CA
Well, after many years of running and breaking down, this elevator has now been demolished. I remember riding this thing when I was little. I have always loved it. As a matter of fact, this was the elevator that started my interest in elevators. Every time I came to this mall, I would have to ride it no matter what, even though it was the same thing over and over, as my Dad would say. There was another elevator on the other side of the mall that looked just like this one, however, it was demolished back in 2015. I unfortunately lost all my videos of that elevator except for a few videos of it when it was low on oil. Now back to this elevator. I was hoping that they would save this one. It lasted a little bit longer than the other one. Well to my disbelief, I began to see signs around the mall saying that plans where changed, and that demolition was set to begin soon. I was shocked, and I was hoping that they would keep the elevator, but they plan to rebuild the whole place. Luckily, I got some parts from the elevator thanks to KONE. I will miss this thing, but at least I have a lot of videos of it (72 to be exact). Hope you enjoy the video.

Country Club Plaza - Sacramento, CA
Welcome to Wayfarer Pictures! This is our first video in our Dead & Dying Malls series (and ever).
Join us on a tour of Country Club Plaza, a struggling mid-century-era mall located in Sacramento, CA. There's been some additions and changes to the mall since this footage was shot (November 2017), but it remains to be seen if they'll be enough to turn it around.
WILD RIDE! Mitsubishi Elevators-Nordstrom-Westfield SF Centre-San Francisco, CA
The video started off nice and calm. However, as we approached the lobby, things sort of got a bit exciting. We start off with a bunch of lost Chinese tourists that don't know whether to go to the main floor of the mall or the main floor on Nordstroms. Then a girl barely catches the elevator and ends up getting crushed by the door. Whatever food she was holding spilled all over her in the process. Of course, by now the elevator had enough so it decided to go into nudge mode. As we ascended, the girls' food was dripping all over the floor. For the rest of the video, the elevator goes into nudge mode. These have rare Innovation bar buttons and BUMPERS instead of sensors (which the girl couldn't seem to understand) I end the video with a view down the amazing escalator atrium! Enjoy!

Montgomery Hydraulic Scenic Elevator at Sacramento Downtown Plaza in Sacramento, CA
A lot of the mall has been demolished. Macy's Men's, and another scenic elevator was demolished. I think the hall fixtures might be Epco, or Innovation. DieselDucy & Tom Sybert, you will love the car fixtures. C.J. Anderson VX car fixtures, with a Montgomery indicator.
UPDATE: Most of this mall has now closed. Only Macy's is still open, and I think Macy's will still open.
A Special Freight Elevator! Montgomery Elevator-Downtown Commons-Sacramento, CA
To most, this may just seem like a usual filthy mall service elevator. Well, it is. However, it's not just any freight elevator. This is the only original mall service elevator. This thing has been through Downtown Plaza before Westfield even bought it all the way to when Westfield left. Out of the 5 freights in the mall, this is the only one that survived. The other ones were torn down with the rest of the mall. My favorite glass elevator next to this was even ripped out. As a matter of fact, only a TINY TINY section of the mall is still original! Luckily, this elevator is in that tiny section. This is the only remnant of Downtown Plaza. Today, Downtown Commons takes over, leaving the history of the mall to be forgotten.

THROWBACK-Montgomery Hydraulic Elevators @ L St. Plaza-Sacramento,CA
THROWBACK to 2012! Excuse the very shaky video. I was like 12 years old. This was part of the Downtown Plaza Mall, back when Westfield still owned it. Notice the awesome bell on the second elevator. Unfortunately, these are long gone. The new Kings arena (Golden 1 Center) is being built here. The majority of the mall was demolished, taking away 9 elevators in total. The west end survived a little while longer, but demolition began on that side last month. My favorite elevator has now been demolished as well, but luckily I built up the courage to ask for some parts. As of now, Macy's is the only thing left. Enjoy this video!
NICE Dover Scenic Traction Elevators-Kaiser Permanente Downtown-Sacramento, CA
This used to be a state building but they moved to another location about 3 years ago. 1 year later, construction crews started gutting the place. These used to be Dover with Traditional fixtures. If you never saw these before and weren't familiar with door tracks, you would never know these used to be Dover. This building is super super nice and the elevators run great. Elevator Industries was in charge of this project. They modded these three, along with two other Dovers (parking and service elevator). They did something interesting with the PS one. Stay tuned for next week!

15,000 POUND CAPACITY! MASSIVE Montgomery Elevator-Arden Fair Mall-Sacramento, CA
It's been a while since I've filmed this elevator, let alone film at this mall! A few days ago, I decided to come back and get an update on all the elevators here. The Christmas tree is still up and will be until tomorrow night. This is a childhood elevator of mine and it still stands as the biggest elevator (capacity wise) that I've ever been on! The motor used to be really loud and there used to be a nice bell that went off every time it went up. I remember the elevator going up slowly, and then the bell would ring and it would speed up. Those two characteristics are gone. This elevator also went through an exterior shaft renovation and it looks really nice!! (full video of the renovation - Enjoy the video!

Nooo!! The Only Haughton Elevators In Sacramento Got Modded!!!!! Hilton Hotel-Sacramento, CA
This is one of the most disappointing mods I've seen. These used to be lovely Sierra (Haughton) elevators with Armor!! Sierra was a distributor of Haughton back in the day, and they were known to be really rough elevators. There was nothing wrong with these aside from ride quality. The fixtures were still in good condition. A motor replacement and maybe a few controller tweaks were all that was necessary. Well, I came back here to get a better video, and I was hit with this. There is also another set in the back that is non-scenic, but those also got modded. I didn't want to film them anymore. To top it all off, these are now keycarded. BOOOOOOOO! These were some of the coolest elevators-Sacramento's tallest scenic elevators. Now, they're just a typical boring modern-day elevator.

Beautiful Dover Traction Elevators-Renaissance Tower (Darth Vader Building)-Sacramento, CA
The parking structure elevators were really cool, but these are even cooler! This is one of the tallest buildings in Sacramento. These were Dover elevators with traditional but they got modded by Capitol with Innovation. These are pretty fast and have beautiful cabs. Also, the penthouse elevator is super weird. It goes from 27-28 and it's hydraulic!!!! That's so weird!!!! And it's scenic too. Sucks that it's locked off though. These are quite busy but I'm fine with this video. The view from the vacant top floor is amazing.

Dover Hydraulic Elevator #1-Arden Fair Mall-Sacramento, CA
This elevator along with the other one in this parking structure were previously Dover impulses, but they were both modernized with Innovation. The doors used to be an ugly bright green, and the walls in the cab used to be bright pink. They were recently repainted and they look pretty nice! Even the shaft was repainted, and it wasn't blue before. This is the nicer elevator in the parking structure The other one is quite the opposite.
