David CK Cheung - A Celebration of Life
Reverend David Chi-kong Cheung was born on July 21st, 1936 in Hong Kong. He graduated from Wah Yan College (high school) and Hong Kong Baptist University. He was a very good soccer player as a young man. He then went to the United States of America to pursue higher levels of education. He earned his Master in Education Administration degree at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas and Master in Religious Education degree at the Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. Rev. Cheung married Miss Marjorie Hong on June 8th, 1963. They immediately returned to Hong Kong to serve their own people. Rev Cheung taught at two high schools before he became the principal of Carmel Secondary School in 1964. He held this position faithfully for 26 years. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP) and to the Legislative Council by the then Governor of Hong Kong, Sir David Wilson, in 1988. In 1990, he became the principal of the prestigious Pui Ching Middle School. While he was in Hong Kong, Rev. Cheung was a deacon at his church for over twenty years. He also preached at different churches and served as a member of the boards of directors for a number of Christian organizations.
Rev. Cheung was called into full-time ministry and was ordained in 1991. Rev. and Mrs. Cheung went to the mission field in Europe with the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM). Rev. Cheung served as the director at the mission field. He was actively involved in the publication of the European edition of Harold Monthly, founded the Christian Centre for Gambling Rehabilitation, the Chinese Christian Restaurant Employees Fellowship (CCREF) and developed the two-year certificate program for pastors in Europe. CCREF eventually spread throughout the world. After 8 years in the mission field, Rev. and Mrs. Cheung returned to St. Louis. Rev. Cheung became the pastor of Chinese Gospel Church in 1999. He served there until his retirement in late 2003. After his retirement, Rev. Cheung continued to participate and to lead actively in many ministries. He was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Christian Chinese Community Service Center. He also preached and led many evangelical and spiritual revival meetings throughout North America and around the world. From 2004 to 2010, he lived in California and served as the President of the Christian Witness Theological Seminary since April of 2006. His impact was tremendous and he will be dearly missed, but well remembered.
Rev. and Mrs. Cheung have a son, two daughters and six grandchildren.
The Gordon Lindsay Story (Voice of Healing)
Brother James Gordon Lindsay was born and raised in an atmosphere of healing and Pentecostal experience. He was born in Zion City, Illinois, on June 18, 1906. His parents were Thomas Lindsay and Effie (Ramsey) Lindsay. They were followers of John Alexander Dowie, the famous healing evangelist. When the city went bankrupt after Dowie's decline, the Lindsays moved first to a Christian Community in California, Pisgah run by Finis E. Yoakum, and then to Portland, Oregon. He was converted during a meeting led by Charles G. Parham, the initiator of the Pentecostal Movement in Topeka, Kansas. He then developed relationship with John G. Lake, who started the Divine Healing Missions in Spokane, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Lindsay traveled with Lake on healing campaigns in California and the southern states. He eventually became a pastor of churches in California, but returned to Oregon where he married Freda Schimpf.
Lindsay accepted a call to pastor a church in Ashland, Oregon in the early 1940's. By 1947 he had heard and met William M. Branham, who was having a significant healing and evangelism ministry. He resigned and became Branham's campaign manager. In order to promote the campaigns Lindsay started the Voice of Healing in April 1948. Branham was struggling and announced that he was no longer going to be doing the evangelistic meetings. This was devastating to Lindsay, and his staff, since the focus had been on Branham's ministry. Jack Coe had come on as a coeditor of the magazine. It began to focus on other ministries such as Jack Coe, Oral Roberts, and A. A. Allen. The Voice of Healing group sponsored a convention of healing evangelists in Dallas, Texas and Kansas City in 1950. Eventually some of the ministers involved developed their own magazines and the group became less diverse.
Lindsay, much like Charles Cullis 70 years before, felt there was a need for literature that covered the history, theology, and experience of healing. He wrote more than 250 books and pamphlets, as well as being a regular contributor to the Voice of Healing magazine. Feeling a call to develop missions and evangelistic works, he sponsored international missions campaigns. He wrote literature that was sent all over the world through the Native Literature Work. He started a radio program and organized, with W. A. Raiford, the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International. During 1956 he conducted a Winning the Nations Crusade with the goal of sending teams of ministers all around the world. Lindsay died unexpectedly on April 1, 1973. The Voice of Healing magazine eventually changed its name to Christ for the Nations.
3:16 - Prepare The Way (The Smithton Outpouring cover written by Eric Nuzum) - 12/04/11
They say that Missouri is the show me state. So it's not surprising that God chose a small church in Smithton, Missouri to show us what a strong difference His presence can make in our lives. Since March 1996 almost 200,000 worshipers from all over the world have made the pilgrimage to this revival in the heartland of America. There you find people who are just like you and me, leading simple lives. There you witness the crippled healed, the lost finding Christ, and the hopeless given a new vision for life. Now you can be a part of this momentous experience without making the journey to Missouri. The Smithton Outpouring was recorded live at Smithton Community Church during revival services and features Don Moen's I Want To Know You More, a song inspired by the revival; Fire In The House, by worship leader Eric Nuzum; and the dramatic portrayal of Christ's suffering in Redeemer, Savior, Friend.

Lexington
Join me on a visit to the historic town of Lexington, Missouri where there is still a cannonball stuck in the courthouse from the Civil War!
Lexington Historic Sign
“
Lexington
Lexington, on the bluffs above the broad Missouri, grew up around Jack’s Ferry, 1819, to become by 1860 one of the great river ports of the State. Prosperous river trade and agricultural richness of the area made the town a commercial center, an outfitting point for emigrants West, and an educational and financial metropolis. Lexington became the seat of Lafayette (then Lillard) Co., 1823.
Here were established a U.S. Land Office, 1823; a fifth Branch Bank of the State of Missouri, 1845; and offices of the great freighting firm, Russell, Majors and Waddell, in 1850’s. The proud roll of early schools lists the first college founded by Masons in the world, Masonic College, opened 1848; Baptist Female College, chartered 1855; Elizabeth Aull (Presbyterian) Seminary, 1859; and Central (Methodist) College for Women, 1869. Today’s noted Wentworth Military Academy was founded, 1880.
Many lovely ante-bellum homes reflect Classic-Revival design of the courthouse, built 1847-49. The cannon ball embedded in courthouse column is relic of Confederate victory in the 1861 Battle of Lexington.”
Continued from other side...
“
In 1861, Lexington was early regarded as a strategic military prize and was occupied by Union troops to prevent the State Guard forces north and south of Missouri River from uniting. Gen. Sterling Price moved on Lexington to break this Federal control and a bitter three-day battle ensued, Sept. 18-20, 1861, culminating in an attack called the Battle of the Hemp Bales. The Federals under Col. J. A. Mulligan were defeated.
Among points of interest are Lexington Battlefield; Anderson House, 1863, Site of violent encounters while used as a battle hospital, now a public historic house museum; replica of Masonic College Hall; Machpelah Cemetery and grave of first settler Gilead Rupe; “Madonna of the Trail” monument by F. C. Hibbard, one of 12 in U.S., erected by D.A.R. to mark National Old Trails Roads; Episcopal Church, a Gothic-Revival chapel, built 1848; and Public Library and Historical Association, housed in former Cumberland Presbyterian Church, built around 1840.
Near Lexington Bridge, completed 1925, the side-wheeler Saluda exploded in 1952. Most of the passengers, Mormons, perished.
Erected by State Historical Society of Missouri
and State Highway Commission, 1953. “

Lafayette County
Courthouse
Begun in 1847, the county’s third courthouse is the oldest remaining in use in Missouri. The early portion, with its columned portico, remains unchanged except for modern lighting, heating and office equipment. The office wing on the east side, was begun in 1854 as a one-story building. Afterwards a second story was added. In 1939 it was connected to the main courthouse, providing new vaults and offices. During the Battle of Lexington, Sept. 18-20, 1861, a cannon ball struck the east column and remains in place. The cupola was part of the original construction but the clock was installed in 1886 by Lexington citizens. “

Letter to the Pastors in Liberty, Missouri - August 2010
A couple weeks ago, the Lord had me write a letter to all the pastors in Liberty, Missouri. Not the first time the Lord's had me send out a letter to them, but this one is pretty serious. Got one response back - that missed the whole point. It's not about arguing on technical points, it's about LOVING one another.

KANSAS – The heartland
Motto: To the stars through Adversity
Familiar name: The Sunflower state
Prophetic name: The revival state.
The role of Kansas has been a strategic one for the nations. Kansas is at the heart of America, being at the exact centre. Therefore known as the Heartland of America – with the 4 state capital cities Iowa, Nebraska Kansas Missouri. Kansas has often been a forerunner for the rest of the nation.
As the physical Gateway to the West is in St. Louis (Missouri) the Kansas Missouri border is the spiritual dividing line of the nation. Therefore the Spiritual Gateway to the West.
Kansas has seen bloodshed before . Many Indian battles and the first known Christian martyr on USA soil was in Kansas.
Bread is significant to the state. A key redemptive gift of Kansas (The wheat state) to the nations is being the breadbasket.
An abundance of new wheat is a symbol of God’s provision. In John 6:33 we read that the bread of god is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Lord we proclaim You as the true Bread of Life. We p[ray for revival in Kansas that people will come into a new relationship with You and will bring their offering of praise to You as the Most High.
We pray that the great wells of revival in this state will be re-dug – that people will walk in Hour footsteps. That they will want to live like Jesus did.
WWJD – find its nets in Rev. Charles Sheldon’s book : In His steps. You will uncap and release the well of revival for the Centre of the heartland of America. Let the church arise in the new day.
Kansas is the 49th state that this team has prayed for since they said 'yes' to the calling to pray for revival in the USA.
