My son and I decided to venture out an visit American Village in Okinawa Japan. I think we were a bit early, but no matter, we were able to fill up on Blue Seal Ice Cream, visit a bowling alley and finally ride the world famous Ferris Wheel.

The Mihama American Village - Okinawa - Ren Travel Guide Travel Video

Location: American Village Mihama Chatan-Cho Okinawa
The Mihama American Village (アメリカンビレッジ) is a large entertainment complex located in central Okinawa Honto. Many American military bases are located in the area, and the entertainment complex' theme of Americana provides a nostalgic pleasure for residents of the bases as well as an interesting diversion for the locals. The Mihama American Village resembles a big American outdoor shopping mall with lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and a large parking lot.
The most recognizable feature of the American Village is the large Ferris Wheel. The Americana theme is found at many establishments, such as fashion shops selling American brand clothing or restaurants specializing in hot dogs and hamburgers. American and Japanese movies are shown at the Mihama 7 Plex movie theater. Just a few steps away along the waterfront is Sunset Beach. Facing westward, the beach is a good place to catch the sunset and is a popular spot for barbecues.

Mihama is a fun place with lots of souvenir shops, and restaurants. Some notable place are Sunset Beach, movie theater, Ferris wheel. Walked the 1.2-mile around Mihama area.

Jostling big ritual wand at Mimi Shrine in Mihama Town, Fukui Prefecture
The regular festival of Mimi Shrine in Mihama Town, Fukui Prefecture is held on May 1st every year. The Jostling big ritual wand is a pretty rough event which raisers and stoppers jostle the big ritual wand likened to a portable shrine. The event takes half a day from around noon on that day. This photo was taken around four in the afternoon toward the end of the event. It shows that the ritual wand's paper strips which there were many at the beginning, have all torn off and only the bare pole is left. And after this, the people start to have it climbing of the stone steps.
