It is the administrative headquarters of Almora district. Almora is located on a ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon Hills of the Himalaya range, at a distance of 363 km from the national capital New Delhi and 415 km via Saharanpur Rd, 351 km via NH109 and 388.6 km via Ambala- Dehradun- Haridwar Rd from the state capital Dehradun.   • 2. Chaubatia Ranikhet
    Chaubattia is a settlement in Almora district, in the state of Uttarakhand, northern India. It is located roughly 10 kilometres south of the cantonment town of Ranikhet. Chabatia is 1,800 metres above sea level, within sight of the western peaks of the Himalayas. Its name literally means a common meeting point of four paths . It is named this way because of its location at the intersection of four places connects in front of Rawat Building: Bhargaon, Ranikhet, Dehrti and Pilkholi.Chaubatia is best known as the location of a botanical garden and fruit orchard which are popular with tourists to the region. The gardens contain predominantly apple, peach, plum and apricot trees. It is also home to a government operated fruit and vegetable research centre, which owns and runs the fruit orchard.
