The town is a base for diving and trips to Mele Cascades, a multi-tiered waterfall with rock pools in a rainforest.

Geoff Mackley, Bradley Ambrose,, after an epic struggle with the weather for 35 days, we became the first people ever to get this close to Marum Volcano's famed lava lake on Ambrym Island, Vanuatu. Coming within 30 metres of the lava lake down a watercourse, it was possible to stand the heat for only 6 seconds. With Fire Brigade breathing apparatus and heat proof proximity suit it was possible to stand on the very edge and view the incredible show for over 40 minutes.

Vanuatu Island Experience Tourism Video [FR]
On the island of Ambrym, from the small village of Port Vato, Vanuatu Island Experience provides once in a lifetime eco-tour service and memories that last a lifetime. John Tasso, the chief tour guide and officially accredited tour guide by the Ministry of Tourism, has been bringing adventurous tourists to Mount Benbow, Mount Marum, Ranon Beach, and onwards to Fanla village. All these trip elements, and more, and featured in this mini-documentary produced on-site all across Port Vila and Ambrym. Featured narrators and tour guides are John Willie of North Ambrym and John Tasso of West Ambrym. The traditions and otherworldly landscapes found in rural Vanuatu including the lava lakes, ROM dance, and small populations are all featured in this video.
John hopes this video serves as a source of helpful insight for visitors who may want to visit Vanuatu's main tourist destinations.

Inside Olal bungalow, North Ambrym, Vanuatu
July 2011: Looking inside the bungalow we stayed in at Chief Sekor's place, Olal village, North Ambrym. Phone: +678 5907659. Cost is 3000 vatu (AU$36) pp, per night including all meals. The footage is a little rocky in places but I'm working in a small space! The other 2 bungalows had wooden bed frames so their mattresses were off the ground. There were 5 of us, so I guess they only had bed frames for 3 people. I quite enjoyed the experience of sleeping on the floor; very authentic. Can't say the same for my friend Sandie, though! Next visit, I'll take my own mattress and leave it with them. Chief Sekor and Lourdes, his wife, speak French and Bislama very well. The chief is okay with English if you keep it simple and go slow. Chief Sekor will arrange boat transfers from Craig Cove to Olal (2 and a half hours). You will need to fly from Santo to Craig Cove, a great trip in a small plane. Be prepared to walk a couple of km from the airport to the boat connection. Bags with wheels are not fun to drag in the soft ash underfoot. Backpacks are the best form of luggage.
Magic Festival is on early July. Back to my roots festival in August. The chief will arrange it all for you.

Our Holiday In Vanuatu
So I took a few videos on our holiday, and put them together to make a little film of our stay in Vanuatu. Such an amazing place that was ridiculously hot and is home to the friendliest, most humble people that all went out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome. After being hit by cyclone Pam in March of this year, the people are continuing to rebuild their home with big smiles on their faces whilst providing us with amazing accommodation and an experience of a lifetime.
