Anet is a commune and small town in the Eure-et-Loir department and Centre-Val de Loire region of north-central France. It lies 14 km north-north-east of Dreux, between the rivers Eure and Vesgre, the latter flowing into the former some 4 km north-east of Anet town hall. The town possesses the remains of a magnificent castle, the Château d'Anet, built in the middle of the 16th century by Henry II for Diana of Poitiers. Near it is the plain of Ivry-la-Bataille, where Henry IV defeated the armies of the Catholic League in 1590.The opening scene of the James Bond film Thunderball was shot in Anet.

    The Fondation Claude Monet is a nonprofit organisation that runs and preserves the house and gardens of Claude Monet in Giverny, France. With a total of 530,000 visitors in 2010, it is the second most visited tourist site in Normandy after the Mont Saint-Michel. The House and Garden have been recognised as a Maison des Illustres and Jardin remarquable rewarding their outstanding qualities. The estate was classified as a Monument historique in 1976.
