Thailand Cambodia Border Crossing \ Bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap
Off to Cambodia! Method of Travel: Bus! Come along as I travel from Bangkok, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia, taking a direct bus that escorts you through the border at Aranyaprathet/Poipet.
Book your next bus trip to and from Cambodia with BOOKMEBUS (
I show you the way through the immigration and visa offices without getting scammed and share some tips to avoid a thorny situation with a tuk tuk driver when you arrive at Siem Reap. Also, I meet some viewers who happened to be on the same bus as me!
Some tips:
-BRING YOUR PASSPORT and an extra passport photo for your visa application.
-Make sure you are carrying enough cash to make it through the visa office ($30 USD + some extra USD or Thai baht for other fees you might get charged.
-The company I used was The Transport Co. Ltd.
-Don't get sidetracked. Go directly to the official border offices and be aware of scams.
-Bring extra snacks and water for the ride (the only stop was at the border).
-Know where your accommodations are located in Siem Reap and avoid taking a complimentary tuk tuk to your hotel/hostel if it's walking distance.

How To Pack In 10 Minutes For An Indefinite Trip
explores what will be taken on a migration, or an indefinite trip. Everything that needs to be taken, can be put together and packed in less than 10 minutes, if you know what you are doing.
Don't forget to say hello to Mark at and find delicious Thai food at
Aran Garden Hotel 2 - Aranyaprathet
The 'Aran Garden Hotel 2' is a respectable place to stay if you arrive at Poipet border crossing to late and need a place to sleep. Staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and have air conditioning. Opposite the hotel is a bank and small cafes that offer food before you cross over the border.

Poipet, Cambodia Border Crossing - The legendary scam route in South East Asia
Poipet, Cambodia Border Crossing - The legendary scam route in South East Asia
Several years ago, I embarked on an overland journey from Bangkok city (Thailand) to Siem Ream (Cambodia). The entire journey turned out to be an absolute nightmare and I was left completely gutted as I was being ripped-off left, right and centre. To put it mildly, this experience left a bitter taste of my visit to Cambodia.
Left discontent with the situation, I decided to re-attempt this journey again in hope that things will be better this time round.
In this episode of One Last Stint, Lyvonn and I will be making this very same journey together. Starting with a train ride in the wee hours of the morning towards Aranyaprathet, then a short tuk-tuk ride to the border of of Thailand. From there we cross over to casino city Poipet (Cambodia) and then a taxi ride straight to Siem Reap. All in all, the journey is expected to take anywhere between 8 -11 hours.
In getting to our destination, we dealt with 2 major scams. In contrary to my previous experience, I was ripped off even from Bangkok city. I suppose things has gotten better, in a way. First scam, the visa application to enter Cambodia, The second scam - which I have to admit is something new, the Government Bus otherwise known as The company.

Driving around Prachinburi City, Thailand
Songthaew in Thailand
Songthaews are an inexpensive and fun way to travel around towns and cities in Thailand. Sometimes there are set Songthaew routes. Other times, Drivers will determine the route by picking up the first passenger and then stopping for additional travelers along the way. If you are going in the same direction as the first passenger, the driver will agree to pick you up. Otherwise, you will need to wait until a Songthaew is traveling in the same direction as your destination or until you are the first passenger to determine the route. Drivers continue to pick up passengers until the Songthaew is full. Typically the cost of a shared ride runs between 20 and 100 Thai Bhat.
