North Kerry Way Day Out
The initial plan was to hike whole North Kerry Way. So we planned to travel to Tralee, leave car at the parking in the city centre, booked accommodation and our lovely host offered us lift back to Tralee the next day. But than we had to make adjustment to the plan, as HEATWAVE was about to strike Ireland, and 12km of the trail Spa to Banna strand is going along the road ( not nice to hike anyway, especial under 28 C sun).
So we changed the plan:
- Hike to Spa from Blennerville and back, about 7-8km
- Visit first time Tralee Bay Wetlands for a lunch
- Drive to Banna Strand and really enjoy the Heatwave in a right place
- Head to our lovely place to stay and rest
- Walk along the strand from Ballyheigue to Banna Strand and of course dinner.
The plan was open to changes as per circumstances, as usually One Step a Time.
The day started at 10 am from Blennerville and we were back to BB after 10pm.
The most difficult part on long hikes and days out always is to keep child entertained and NOT bored. On this day there was not a chance for boredom. When we go away it is an opportunity to for us connect without interruption, just one to one, we just talk and play.
Ok, we think it’s a great way to spend an ACTIVE day out with kid or kids.
* FOOD: Tralee Bay Wetlands cafe is a MUST, food is amazing, Kate’s restaurant in Ardfert
* Banna Strand would be a favourite this time, clean, LOTS of space
