The imposing capital of Lombardy, Mantua (or Mantova) is a beautiful, historic city surrounded on three sides by artificial lakes created during the 12th century. Mantua's historic power and influence under the wealthy Gonzaga family made it one of the main artistic, cultural and musical hubs of Northern Italy. Mantua's most famous ancient citizen is the poet Publius Vergilius Maro, Virgil, who was born near the city in 70 BC. revolt backed by the House of Gonzaga led to the election of Luigi Gonzaga as the Captain General of Mantua. The Gonzagas built new walls with five gates and renovated the architecture of the city in the 14th century. During the Renaissance, the Gonzaga family raised the level of culture and refinement. In 1627, the Gonzaga line came to an end, and the town slowly declined under the new rulers.
Palazzo Ducale, the home of the Gonzaga family from the late 13th to early 17th centuries, is a huge complex of buildings, courtyards, a museum, basilica, theatre and 15 gardens. There are over 500 rooms and some 12,000 paintings and sculptures. The most famous room is the Camera degli Sposi with frescoes from 1474 painted by Mantegna.
The Duomo, the Cathedral of San Pietro, was first erected on the site of a Palaeo-Christian structure that was destroyed by a fire in 894. The church was rebuilt in 1395-1401 with the addition of side chapels and a magnificent Gothic façade. After another fire in the 16th century, the interior was remade. In 1756-1761 the façade was replaced by the Baroque one in Carrara's marble.
The Basilica di Sant'Andrea was begun in 1462 on a site occupied by a Benedictine monastery and finished 328 years later. The Benedictine bell tower from 1414 still remains. The church holds the tomb of the painter Andrea Mantegna and a much-disputed relic said to hold the blood of Christ.
The 11th century Rotonda of San Lorenzo, the most ancient church in the city, is believed to be on the site of a Roman temple to Venus. Deconsecrated, it was used for dwellings, shops and stores. Later it was restored and the external additions removed.
In 2008 Mantua became a UNESCO World Heritage Site based on its Renaissance planning and architecture.

You are going to be blown away by the authentic flavours, by the friendly staff and the culture of learning. So let’s go!
Number 1: Authentic Gourmet Market
When you walk into EATALY, the dedication to variety, quality and authenticity will absolutely astound you. Pick up some fresh veggies, perhaps a bottle of exclusive Italian extra virgin olive oil or maybe sample the famous Grana Padano, Pecorino Romano or the handcrafted Mozzarella, 3 out of the 300 different cheeses offered. As for the meat section, you should definitely get your hands on some local Prosciutto and Salumi, or perhaps you're interested in something more unique, such as their 3 week dry-aged beef which is a speciality of theirs. Trust me on one thing, EATALY’s dedication to healthy, chemical free produce of the highest quality will win you over!
Number 2: Specialized Restaurants & Food Stations
At Eataly one thing I can guarantee you with absolute certainty is that you’ll never run out of amazing food options. Whether you want to a beautifully cooked “al dente” pasta, a classic Neapolitana Pizza with creamy mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes, a perfect pan seared fish, or perhaps even a meaty steak, you can definitely find it at one of their 6 restaurants. If you’re looking for something more unique, check off your bucket list of having eaten at a Michelin Star restaurant by dining at Alice. All in all I was super impressed by not only how flavourful everything was, but also at the amazing hospitality of the staff. Special shout out to Mirko and Julia for being so welcoming and of course, how can I miss, their fun pizza making skills!
Number 3: Coffee, Chocolate and Pastries Section
If you have a major sweet tooth, you will get lost in a wonderland here. Eat your way through housemade pastries, creamy gelatos, classic cappuccinos, chocolate fountains and other chocolate delights founded by the Artisan chocolatier Silvano Venchi from Torino, where Eataly first started! My favourite dessert is Tiramisu, so I indulged myself in this layered delight. By the way, fun fact, do you know what Tiramisu means? “Lift Me Up”, and guess what, that is exactly what it did!
Number 4: Wine Wing
Now the first thing I advice you to do when you get off at the top floor, is to find Alberto, the wine expert! His hospitality blew me away - he took me all around the area showing me the international and national wine selections, pouring me a glass of sweet Moscato to sample and imparting some great knowledge. The tour was absolutely memorable, and what made it even better, was getting some unique wine pouches to take home as souvenirs!
Number 5: Lifestyle Products & The Eataly School
After eating at all these amazing places, you may want to lounge around their books section and sip on some coffee. Learn about some new recipes and perhaps even buy yourself some handy Italian style utensils for your kitchen back home! Salem (About this sound pronunciation (help·info)) is a city in Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located about 160 kilometres (100 mi) northeast of Coimbatore, 186 kilometres (116 mi) southeast of Bangalore and about 340 kilometres (210 mi) southwest of the state capital, Chennai. Cheralam, Shalya, Kurukshetra, Sayilam and Sailam are found on inscriptions referring to the country around the hills: Nagarmalai in the north, Jeragamalai in the south, Kanjamalai in the west and Godumalai in the east. Salem is claimed as the birthplace of the Tamil Avvaiyar poets. It and the surrounding hilly regions were part of the Chera dynasty, and the city was ruled by kings known as the Kurunila Mannargal. Salem was later ruled by Gatti Mudalis, Poligars who built temples and forts in and around the city.
During the early 18th century, after the Mysore-Madurai war, the region was ruled by Hyder Ali. Salem was taken from Hyder Ali by a Colonel Wood at the beginning of 1768, and recaptured by Ali in late 1772. Under Robert Clive it was occupied by a detachment of

Vicenza Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Vicenza, Veneto, northern Italy. It is the seat of the Bishop of Vicenza, and is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. Construction of the cathedral was begun in 1482, to plans by Lorenzo of Bologna, and completed in the 1560s. The cupola was planned by Andrea Palladio and probably the north doorway also.
Only the original façade survived the bombing of World War II; the rest of the present building has been reconstructed. The maestri di cappella include Fra Ruffino d'Assisi (1525–31), Nicola Vicentino (1563–65), Giammateo Asola and his pupil Leone Leoni (1588-1627).
The original facade is Gothic and attributed to Domenico da Venezia 16th century. It is divided into four sections: the lower one has five arches in transoms, the second with arches in the center of an oculus, the third is smooth, the fifth is decorated with five statues (and two pinnacles added in 1948).
It is slightly detached from the church and placed in the street that runs along the south side of the cathedral. It rests on a 10th-century stone base, the bell tower dates from the twelfth century and has five bells, in the chord of Eb, the oldest still in place was cast in the seventeenth century.

Beyond the glitzy farmhouses of South Delhi, in the Chhatarpur belt, lies an arena where a duo of belief systems based on alternative faith and religious leaders, chiefly the Radha Soami Satsang Beas sect and the Guruji cult, the Guruji who offers blessings always and to whom only those who are drawn and called to will come - there is no advertising of the belief or any proselytization. The buildings are huge and hold in the hundreds of thousands, with their cars and buses and entire weekends are devoted to the pravachan of the guru. The most recent weekend is the current one, from 6th to 8th October 2017.
We only wish the untreated human waste of hundreds of thousands is not dumped into the otherwise clean stream that runs along the rear of the ashram, fouling the waters for kilometers downstream.

Tejender Khanna, the ex Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is a Radha Soami believer and it is believed that he helped them extend their geographical boundaries to a purportedly large size of nearly 300 acres in the South Delhi village of Bhatti.
The building restrictions for farm-houses do not seem to apply to this organization, or perhaps the government made a special religious exemption for them...?

Gurpurab is a very auspicious and important celebration for Sikhs, which marks the birth or death anniversary of the Sikh Guru. Sikhs on the day of Gurpurab gather especially at Gurdwaras to remember and pay homage to their gurus. All across the world, where Sikhs are living, the Gurpurab is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor. Martyrdom day Gurpurab is marked with humbleness and respect.
It is during the time of gurus, that the word “Gurpurab” came into existence. Gur in this means Guru and Purab came from the Sanskrit word parva, which means festival or celebration.
History indicates that the Sikh gurus, after Guru Nanak Dev ji had celebrated his birthday. Even the writings of Bhai Gurdas (1551–1636) have the mentioning of Gurpurab. It was written at the time of Guru Arjan Dev ji.
The celebrations of Gurpurab last for three days. On the first day, before birthday-date, to celebrate Gurpurab, Akhand Path is observed at Gurdwaras. Some people even conduct this at their residents. The path is done by reading the holy book of Sikh, “Guru Granth Sahib” for uninterrupted 48 hrs.
On the second day, processions or Nagarkirtan in the towns and cities is conducted in which the Sikhs chant the holy hymns. On the third day, at Gurdwaras kirtan and special assemblies are conducted to throw light on the lives and teachings of the gurus followed by Guru Ka Langar for all.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the founder of Sikhism and so his birthday is of special importance to every Sikh. Usually his birthday known as Guru Nanak Jayanti falls in November but as per the lunar Indian Calendar, every year his birthday date keeps on changing. To start with the celebrations, Prabhat Pheris are held many days before the birthday date of Guru Sahib. Prabhat means morning and Pheris, which is derived from Pheras means rounds. In Prabhat Pheris Sikhs gathers at one place early morning at Gurdwara and start singing hymns. The whole procession then moves towards the home that has invited them for religious mean. After the complete pheri, Prashaad is distributed among the Sangat. Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday celebrations last for three days and instigate with Akhand Path. On the second day, a procession led by Panj Piare is organized that passes through main roads and streets. The Palki (Palanquin) of Guru Granth Sahib is the main attraction that is decorated with flowers. Passersby pay obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib. Devotees also chant hymns and Sikhs play “Gatka” a kind of Sikh martial art in the procession. On the third day, i.e. on the birthday-date, Asa-di-Var (morning hymns) is recited at 4-5 AM. Then the hymns from Guru Granth Sahib are read which are followed by Katha, recitation of poems and lectures on the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The whole celebrations are performed which is followed by Ardas and Guru ka Langar.
