Dingle town & peninsula, Ireland
We've been exploring the West Coast of Ireland and now we’re heading for Dingle which some people would say is the finest destination in the country. Dingle is a lush green peninsula extending out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Entering the Dingle Peninsula and passing through villages of Blennerville, Camp and Annascaul.
We stop by the roadside for a lovely view looking down towards the coast and across the green fields.
Next stop, Dingle, our home base for the next couple days. The town is one of Ireland's best with excellent hotels, of course many pubs, and in recent years, Dingle has become one of the gourmet capitals of the country with many fine restaurants. We will be taking you inside a couple of them. The drive in gave us a nice overview and will be taking you on several walks through town.
Most visitors find the real attraction is the surrounding areas with the beautiful countryside and the historic sites. With a few minute’s drive, you are at the edge of town and beyond that, you're in the countryside almost immediately.
So we hop in our van and do a tour of the peninsula. It's not unusual to run into some rain when you're out here in the far tip of Europe, in the Atlantic Ocean. And we had some rain this morning, but it cleared up a little bit during the day.
Dingle is a peninsula sticking into the sea at the western edge of Europe, set amid wild green scenery surrounded by the ocean.
One of the main historic sites you'll see is Dunbeg Fort. It's quite typical of the Celtic fortresses of the Iron Age in Ireland. It's built right up against the edge of a cliff, so it's easy to defend itself with the big walls on one side and the sea cliff on the other.

I R E L A N D T R A V E L-T O U R :
Me and my family were 2 weeks in Ireland. It was amazing! This is why i am sharing my travel journey with you!
We started in Dublin and drove down along the Ring of Kerry and ended again in Dublin.
S T E P BY S T E P
- We flew from Basel to Dublin and rent a car (Dooley car rental)
- Then we drove from Dublin airport to Doolin and stayed the first week in a lovely cottage
- We hiked to the Cliffs Of Moher, went twice to Galway, Limerick (castle), drove along the Ring Of Kerry (beautiful nature and perfect for hiking), explored the Burren Nationalpark
- Second week: we stayed 1 night in a hostel at Ballinskelligs and hiked along the cliffs and hills. Sadly we could not visit the Skellig island, because the weather was bad and the Puffins were already gone.
- Then we travelled in the direction of Dublin and made a stop at Dingle Harbour, and watched the Dolphin Fungie.
- Next, we drove to a cottage were we stayed one night in the area of the Ring Of Kerry. On our way we made a spontaneous stop at a incredible beach in Dingle Peninsula. In the evening, after a diner in a Pub, we stopped at the Skellig Cliffs and enjoyed the sunset! - it was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen!
- The next day, we drove to Cashel and stayed one night in a B&B, because the way up to Dublin would be too long. There we also visited the famous castel.
- Then we travelled up to Dublin and stayed the last 3 and a half days. Our hostel was called JacobsIn and was perfect! You definitely should visit the Guinness Storehouse and the Temple Bar, and of course the irish pubs.
- After this amazing, beautiful and sometimes wet holidays, we flew back to Basel.
All in all, you should definitely visit Ireland. But you should not forget your raincoat and jumpers in the summer time. It is really cold - 15 degrees! Last but not least, don't forget you camera, the nature is just breathtaking!
Thank you for watching! xx

Coumeenoole Beach Viewpoint - Dingle Peninsula - County Kerry - Ireland
