Top 10 Places in PENANG Malaysia - Highlights / Best things to do
I came to Penang on 3 separate visits and got to see most of the important places on the entire Island. Thus, it was time for me to provide you my Top 10 list of the best places that have to be on your itinery when you are planning you next visit. Penang has very well preserved much of its history; it can be seen as what Singapore used to be in 1960. The entire old city of Georgetown has been granted world heritage status by UNESCO, which ensures its preservation for the future. Penang has many beautiful museums, beaches, temples, mosques and churches that are worth to be visited. In addition, Penang is a real paradise for foodie travelers. Its local cuisine ranks among the best in the world. All in all, Penang provides you quite a good mix between sightseeing and chillout time.
A few useful tips for people who only stay 2-3 days in Penang:
Places like the national park and Penang Hill require quite some time to visit and should rather be skipped for short visits. However, if you stay longer, it is a great idea to include them. Traveling in Penang was for me the most convenient using Grab Taxi, as it was cheap and highly efficient.
How to reach Melaka: Fly from Kuala Lumpur (Firefly/Airasia), Singapore (Scoot/Airasia) or Bangkok (Airasia). Otherwise there are buses from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, which offer a much cheaper option.

A Tourist's Guide to Penang, Malaysia
With my pal, I fly into the Malaysian island of Penang, famous for its beaches, street art of street food. We sample them all, as well as hiring a couple of mopeds to drive around the island. Along the way we stop at a butterfly farm, a temple full of pit vipers and see one of the longest reclining Buddhas in Malaysia. We stay in Georgetown, the sprawling and modern capital.
