FAST FACTS:
1. The urban city of Belfast is renowned for its charming atmosphere and friendly people, but its maritime heritage can bring you on a fascinating journey into the city’s shipbuilding past. Head to the city’s Titanic Quarter, the location for Titanic Belfast: Expect gantry rides, an underwater cinema show and stunning cabin recreations. No wonder it has been named the World's Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards.
2. The prestigious travel bible Lonely Planet voted Belfast and the Causeway Coast Best in Travel 2018. Deemed to be one of the world’s most “geographically diverse regions”, the Causeway Coast is home to amazing sights, including the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Mussenden Temple, as well as the jewel in its crown: the legend-laden Giant’s Causeway.
3. HBO’s hit tv series Game of Thrones® brought the natural beauty of Northern Ireland to the small screen. Impressed with the landscapes? Well, did you know the show was filmed at multiple Northern Ireland locations, including the Dark Hedges in County Antrim and Castle Ward in County Down. Grab your broadsword and enjoy.
4. Suitably nicknamed ‘Stairway to Heaven’, the boardwalk around the Cuilcagh Mountains in the Marble Arch Global Geopark is actually part of the Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail. The boardwalk is 1.6 km in length and is located at the end of a 5.8km limestone gravel track. The Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail is a linear route which will appeal to walkers with some experience walking in the hills. According to NIExplorer: “Cuilcagh, from the Irish meaning ‘chalky peak’, is Fermanagh’s highest mountain and sits right on the border of County Fermanagh in the north and County Cavan in the south of Ireland. Legnabrocky is the rural townland just to the north of the mountain’s summit and is where this walking trail begins.” Discover more of it with NI Explorer’s wonderful video.
5. With the Irish Sea tracing around the course perimeter and the Mourne Mountains as a striking backdrop, Golf Digest has listed Royal County Down Golf Club as number one in its ranking of the World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses outside the US.
6. Don’t just sweep in to Derry~Londonderry on a flying visit, stroll the walls – they’ve been standing tall for some 400 years, after all! Take a tour and meet the locals, enjoy tastes galore in the Walled City Brewery, and follow your ear to traditional music sessions across town. Northern Ireland’s Walled City is spectacular in every way, but for one week during the year, it turns ‘spook-tacular’ as it transforms into what USA Today has said is the world’s best spot to celebrate Halloween!
7. Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick, can be remembered fondly in Counties Down and Armagh. Said to have begun his mission to spread Christianity in County Down, Saint Patrick went on to found his main church in County Armagh in 445AD.
8. The wild and wonderful Mourne Mountains are a nature lover’s paradise. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it has numerous trails for walking, hiking and mountain biking as its peaks sweep down to the sea. But did you know they were also inspiration for one of the world’s best-loved authors: “I have seen landscapes which, under a particular light, made me feel that at any moment a giant might raise his head over the next ridge,” wrote CS Lewis, the Belfast-born author of the Chronicles of Narnia.
9. Rediscover the stories of your ancestors at the intriguing Ulster American Folk Park. This unique experience is home to authentic thatched cottages, a full scale emigrant ship and American Frontier log cabins.

Castle Saunderson, County Cavan Ireland - Castles in Ireland
Castle Saunderson, County Cavan, Ireland - Ireland Trip -Travel to Ireland -Castles in Ireland-Irish
When it comes to the different castles in Ireland that one could visit and check, we have to say that there are plenty of those which would take your breath away from the way they look from the outside and might even make you more amazed if you are allowed to come in and see what they have from inside there.
We have been to different castles in Ireland and Northern Ireland before and we usually get amazed by the kind of history carried behind every single one of them - the amount of time it has been standing or some of the myths that might be held about it.
Castle Saunderson is one of those different castles in Ireland which we managed to visit recently and which dates back to the 1840s; a good amount of time! The Saunderson Castle was acquired by the Saunderson family during the Ulster plantation and there was a notable member of the family who was born there known as Edward Saunderson who was the founder of the Ulster Unionist Party. The original castle was inhabited by the O'Reilly's of Breffni and thus was formerly known as Breffni Castle in the 14th century. Later in 1977, Alexander Saunderson sold the castle to a businessman who was willing to transform it into a residence but which never happened and served instead as a hotel until it was damaged by a fire; it has undergone three different fires in the past.
There is actually a long history behind this castle - mostly about moving from one person to another - and there were three different fires taking place in it in the past. The castle served as a modern hotel that is ready to welcome 46 persons and there are also camping areas around the place which will be capable of welcoming about 1,000 campers - lots of changes done to this place.
While being there with the kids, it was just about walking around the castle which seemed empty and not working, reading all those things around it, and enjoying the building as a whole and the green land that is surrounding it - yet too unlucky for us to not be able to come inside and see how this castle looks like from inside there.
There are lots and lots of things that one could see and witness in Ireland and Northern Ireland and from those different attractions, there are different castles that one could enjoy - and which also welcome visitors inside. From those which we have been to before in Ireland, we visited before the Dunluce Castle which is located on cliffs in Northern Ireland and where some scenes and shots from the famous movie series, Game of Thrones, were once taken (
Dunluce Castle was not the only castle we have managed to visit and enjoy but there were others as well, such as the Oranmore Castle in county Galway and which is an old Norman castle ( we have also been to Belfast Castle where we took different pictures, videos, and even brought here a 360 degree video; Belfast Castle is also a good choice for those searching for a different wedding place or want to have an afternoon tea (
There is also the Enniskillen Castle where there is also a museum there for visitors to check and see what it has to offer them and which is located in county Fermanagh close to Lough Erne ( While visiting the Castlewellan Forest Park where there is also a castle along with the different walks, the maze, and many more things as well (
There are lots of wonderful and beautiful places that dates to years and years back but we always fall in love with castles - no reason why - maybe because they resemble fairy tales, beautiful buildings, and another world that is more prestigious and different - which we believe was the same case with the Saunderson Castle when it was still occupied by its first owners or even those who came directly after them.
Since we have mentioned how much we love fairy tales then we should also point out to that event we have attended in Portadown People's Park which was called Fairytale Forest and which the kids enjoyed following up with it and searching for their favorite characters in order to come to the end point and get their reward (
There are lots of places that one could actually visit while being in Ireland and after getting the chance to look at this beautiful castle. From those which we definitely recommend on the top of the list, you could visit and check the Giant's Causeway - which also took its part in GOT movie - ( and which will offer you a magnificent view, and you could also visit the Ballintubber Abbey which is located in county Mayo and which we also love because of being placed in front an old building (

Lough Erne County Fermanagh; NI Second Biggest Lake System-Irish Fishing - Enniskillen Fermanagh
These views of Lough Erne, county Fermanagh! Yes, they took our breath away as well, just the same way they did with you right now! A place in the town of Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, that you should add right now on your list of places to visit in Ireland.
Lough Erne is the name given to the two connecting lakes in county Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Lough Erne is considered the second biggest lake in Northern Ireland and Ulster and it is considered the fourth biggest in Ireland as a whole - which pushed us to reach this place, get introduced to its beauty, and see how magnificent it is.
The smaller southern lake is known as the Upper Lough as it is higher up the river, while the bigger northern lake is called the Lower Lough or Broad Lough. Lough Erne is found on the town of Enniskillen which is placed on the short stretch of river between the two lakes.
For us, this is considered the perfect place for nature due to the idea behind Lough Erne being the place where the two lakes meet, and also for being a place where different islands along with many coves and inlets are found; just as you can see through the video, it is a perfect description for nature.
Enniskillen town, where the Lough Erne is located, is a civil parish in county Fermanagh and it is located exactly in the center of the county where the upper and lower parts of Lough Erne lake are found. Everything has a story behind and the name of this town is believed to carry a story for it as well; it is believed that the name originally came from Cethlenn who was wounded in battle by an arrow and attempted to swim across the River Erne but never made it, and thus the place was named after her, since it comes from the Irish name Inis Ceithleann.
Visiting this place, Lough Erne, will give you the chance to see some of the other landmarks which are found in the town of Enniskillen, such as the Enniskillen Castle which is considered the oldest building in the place. It is not just about the castle, but Enniskillen is the place where the British Army regiments were found. This is considered a place with rich history and there are lots of hidden stories and gems that this name still carries.
To complete your trip in Enniskillen, there are some other suggestions which we will provide you with to visit as much historical and natural places as possible. In addition to the castle, you could also visit the Inniskillings Museum, the Castle Coole, the Monea Castle, the Coles Monument, the Portora Castle, the Tully Castle, the Florence Court, as well as other things simpler than those which you could also come across.
If you are staying at Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, during your visit but you are heading to Lough Erne in Enniskillen town to check this magical place in county Fermanagh, you could actually make a day trip there because it does not take so long; there are different routes and the longest of them will get you there in about two hours and twenty minutes in total, which is considered reasonable for a day trip and enjoying a couple of things to see in Enniskillen.
For those who are not willing to consider this a day trip, they could then search for the resorts or hotels which they could book at in order to enjoy their stay. One of the places which we suggest is the Lough Erne resort, which is sometimes referred to as Enniskillen Hotel, where there are different outdoor activities that one could get the chance to be part of in order to enjoy the fresh air of this place, such as going to the Lough Navar Forest, visiting the Crom Estate, going to Castle Archdale, or else visiting the Cuilcagh Mountain - these come in addition to the ones we have already mentioned above.
Connolly Cove is the place where we bring different recommendations and suggestions for those who enjoy visiting several places in the countries they are going to visit; not just the famous landmarks, but those beautiful ones which might not be gaining the same amount of tourists and visitors. This channel is mainly focused on Ireland and Northern Ireland, but we have been working hard to expand and reach different other countries around the world.
There are lots of things to be seen and visited in Northern Ireland ( there are also a lot of attractions that one could visit in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland ( you could enjoy the hop-on hop-off tour if you are visiting Dublin, Ireland ( and you could also enjoy seeing the location for filming The Game of Thrones which also happens to be in Ireland (
Tell us more about your journey to the Lough Erne, County Fermanagh, the town of Enniskillen, and share with us the places you have visited, the activities you have done there, and the amount of days you stayed there; tell us more about your trip to see this place in Ireland.
