Fortress Schlosskopf Austria Tour with Soaring Gliders over the Fort

Fortress Schlosskopf is high on top of a hill overlooking the Austrian town of Reutte which is on the northern border of Tyrol just to the South of Germany's Barvaria. Built by 1741, fortress Schlosskopf was the last of the military structures in this valley built to control the famous roman road Via Claudia Augusta.
From the top of the fortress Schlosskopf you will see a splendid view over the valley and surrounding alps. Gliders can be seen over-flying the Fortress.
This video is a continuation of the hike from the valley gatehouse to Castle Ehrenberg (see Castle Ehrenberg video). This video starts with a steep hike from Ehrenberg to Schlosskopf then shows the great views from the top.
The castle and fortress are recommended by Rick Steves when visiting King Ludwig II's Schloss Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. This was a great half day hike with the family to see both the castle and fortress. The castle can be seen in 2 to 3 hours. Add another 1.5 to 2 hours to see the fortress. A restroom, small restaurant, and museum are located by the gatehouse.
