Japanese Street Food Tour in Asakusa (浅草) | Tokyo, Japan
Come join us for a Japanese Street Food Tour in Asakusa (浅草) area of Tokyo, Japan as we sample numerous sweet and savory items. We've thoroughly enjoyed sampling Tokyo Street Food on this particular trip and visiting Asakusa (浅草) felt like the most touristy experience out of all the places we've sampled street food in the city. What brings in the crowds is the impressive Senso-ji Temple (金龍山浅草寺), Five Story Pagoda and Kanimarinom Gate (雷門). Aside from just street food, as you wander down Nakamise street, you'll also find plenty of souvenirs and clothes you can purchase.
Here is a list of all of the Japanese Street Food we sampled on our little tour of Asakusa (浅草):
1) Ningyo Yaki (人形焼) - 3 for 150 Yen
'Baked Dolls' small cakes filled with sweet anko bean paste
2) Kibi Dango (きびだんご) - 5 skewers for 330 Yen
Millet dumpling made from kibi flour
3) Japanese Green Tea - 1 cup is 110 Yen
Light and refreshing cold green tea
4) Spicy skewers - 1 skewer 100 Yen
Skewers with a spicy coating on top
5) Cheese and sweet potato pie - 1 for 350 Yen
A flaky pie with sugary sweet potato pie filling and salty cheese
6) Melonpan (メロンパン) and Ice cream - 1 for 400 Yen
A melon shaped bread with vanilla ice cream inside
7) Fried curry bun - 200 Yen

Japanese Street Food Tour in Asakusa (浅草) | Tokyo, Japan Travel Video Transcript:
Good afternoon. It is time for another street food video here in Tokyo, Japan. And today we have come to Asakusa (浅草). I believe that is how it is pronounced. In Japanese it is known as Asakusa (浅草) to foreigners. That is a lot easier to say. Um but yeah we've come here it is packed. There are so many tourists because this is the sight of Sensoji Temple (金龍山浅草寺). So yeah we're just going to be walking down this one street that leads all the way to the temple. There is lots of street food in the area. We have come hungry yes so let's do this.
That is our primary goal. To eat all of the street food.
So this is the plan of action. We arrived as Asakusa (浅草) station. We walked over to Kanimarinom Gate (雷門). We're going to be following the street Nakamise all the way to Senso-ji Temple (金龍山浅草寺) and the Five Story Pagoda. And along the way it is going to be all about the food.
I have to say I'm very excited to have found this. We tried to eat this in Osaka. Melonpan. Do you remember that? Yes, we went there on a rainy day yeah and the food truck that serves melon pan was closed for the day. What a sad occasion.
Then we went to a different market where we had melonpan but without the ice cream. It was just the bread. This is the real deal. So we got the real deal. If I open it here it is so big. We got like a square of ice cream. It almost looks like butter.
Alright guys so here we are. We have reached the end of shopping street and that concludes our food tour. We've also reached the temple at long last. I think we probably spent about an hour or hour and a half here. Yeah.
I think it is just like 250 meters but we meandered. We sampled food. We were eating and following our noses. It was a really tasty Japanese Street Food Tour so we hope you guys enjoyed it. It has gotten like really windy. So I think it is going to start raining any minute. So we're going to say goodbye and we'll see you soon with more food and travel videos here on our channel. Bye.
This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine.
