Tawi-Tawi Island , Bongao Travel Vlog
Last week, I had a trip to one of the southernmost provinces in the Philippines, Tawi-Tawi. It was in deed a beautiful place. The people are friendly. It is a very peactful, contrary to the negative stigma of war and terrorism attached to the place.
I did climb (Mt.) Bud Bongao and enjoyed feeding the friendly monkeys along the trail. The summit rewards you with a magnificent view the ocean, Bongao town, and the neighboring islands.
I did roam around their town including the historical chinese pier where the Chinese traders visited the Philippines more than 500 years ago. Food was also amazing. Tawi tawi is rich in food that you haven't tasted before.
Unfortunately, I wasnt able to visit the neighboring islands of Bongao due to constraints of time. Ill promise to get to the other islands when I get back ti this beautiful Island.

Scattered throughout the Sulu and Celebes seas just like emerald gems, this small archipelagic province at the southern part of the Philippines was tainted with bad reputation through the years along with its neighboring provinces (Sulu, Basilan and also the whole Zamboanga Peninsula) because of ill-fated Moro raids, plus some outbreak of violence by extortionists. Anyway, do not worry when visiting the place. Nonetheless, it was more decisive to see what treasures Tawi-tawi offers.

“If you are given a chance to travel around the Philippines, where would you go?” We choose to explore Southern Mindanao. Aside from breathtaking views at the peak of its mountains, the majestic waterfalls, the calm and relaxing beaches, what more could you ask for? It's a great opportunity to visit our islands and get to know different cultures.
Now let us share our 10 days experience in visiting Zamboanga, Basilian, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
Zamboanga City is a highly-urbanized city in southernmost part of Zamboanga peninsula. And because of its Hispanic influences in its culture, it is commonly known as the “Latin City of Asia”.
BASILAN is a piece of paradise. We felt so blessed when we went for a trip there because we met amazing people. From the tourist officer to the mayors, governors, soldiers and the different tribes. They have many beautiful white sandy beaches that is just a few hours away from the main cities.
Sulu belonged to the craziest part of our journey. Words can't imagine the craziness we had to go thru to visit the oldest Muslim Tomb to drinking Sulu Coffee to eating the best butter chicken and meeting the locals communities.
Cloaking its secrets with verdure and mist, Bud Bongao is Tawi-Tawi’s most famous mountain. It’s a revered pilgrimage site for both Christians and Muslims. Bud Bongao is an icon of terrestrial biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism in Tawi-Tawi because of the wealth of its wildlife and its unique cultural importance. All that we see and experience now, we hope to preserve for the future.
