Brovst is a town with a population of 2,755 in Jammerbugt municipality in northern Jutland in the Region Nordjylland. To the north is Jammer Bay , and beyond that the Skagerrak, the strait that separates Denmark from Norway. Until January 1, 2007, Brovst was also a municipality covering an area of 223 km², and having a total population of 8,340 . Its last mayor is Mogens C. Gade, a member of the Venstre political party. Brovst municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen . It was merged with Fjerritslev, Pandrup, and Aabybro municipalities to form the new Jammerbugt municipality.     Nordsøen Oceanarium is a public aquarium and museum that opened in 1998 on the shores of the North Sea in Hirtshals, north Jutland, Denmark. Their main tank, which holds 4,500,000 litres , is the largest in Northern Europe, but the Oceanarium also has several smaller habitat aquariums and an exhibit with seals. Species displayed are native to the oceans around Denmark. The Oceanarium is part of the Nordsøcentre, which also houses a conference centre.
