Do As the Romans Did - Usk and Caerwent Walks in Wales
A wander around the Ancient Roman and Silures towns of Usk and Caerwent, looking at ruins as well as what the towns look like now. These days, Usk is famous for winning Town in Bloom competitions nationally and internationally and Caerwent - once the biggest town in Wales - is now very sleepy indeed. Long ago these were bustling centres of commerce.
Along the way we also pop into the Usk Museum of Rural life and talk about some personal family history.

What's under the Second Severn Crossing
Another session of location videos viewing from the side of the river Severn at Severn Beach
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Here is the technical explanation
These two pier foundation straddle the Severn Railway tunnel. In order to avoid applying a load from the bridge to the river bed that could be transferred to the tunnel structure, these pier foundations are each built on seven 2 metre diameter piles that are driven into the rock below the tunnel, with the foundations having a 1 metre air gap from the river bed.
At this point the base of the railway tunnel is approximately 22 metres below the bed of the river.
