The Paradise of the Charleroi Metro (Belgium)
Heard about this for decades, but it wasn't until 2013 that the Metro was pieced together, in 7 phases from 1976. The pre-metro route numbers were replaced with M1 through M4 labels. The 1980-82 rolling stock was supplied by La Brugeoise et Nivelles.
This metro is a paradise. First of all the equipment is modern but not too modern. The cars are all identical and sporting the interesting and somewhat retro livery adopted by TEC (transport en commun) a few years ago. It is un-tainted by fading, ad wraps, dirt. There are no glaring LEDs or warning stickers all over the place. No beep, boops, claxons, garbled, redundant or rushed announcements. In fact no use of public address at all. Full or empty, your ride will likely be as tranquil as in the car you left at home. Nothing demands your attention. All the seats are front facing and cushioned. The colors inside and out are earth tones and harmonize well with the architecture of the stations (and the fall foliage in my video). The car floors are medium level, so that you have a single step down to a thick low level platform, yet the car floor is uniform height permitting a safe flow of interior movement. The internal and outward sight lines in the nearly 40 year old cars are incomparable, including out the front.
There are no clumsy and expensive fare gates and ticket sellers. Most people buy an annual pass permitting unlimited rides for less than a dollar a day.
The scenery is a mix of urban, industrial, and wooded suburbs. The industrial and river views are especially unique. The downtown loop is mostly underground. Some downtown streets are auto-free.

Beaubourg-St. Martin, 3rd Arrondissement | Paris Rental Connections
We look forward to welcoming you to our apartment on rue Saint Martin, located in the Marais in the heart of Paris, around the corner from the Pompidou Centre and within an easy walk of Notre Dame Cathedral on the Seine, Place des Vosges, the Louvre and Hotel de Ville.
This central Paris apartment is well serviced by public transport, being less than a 10 minute walk from the Chatelet-Les Halles RER Line to Charles de Gaulle Airport and 5-10mns by cab or metro to Gare du Nord (Eurostar and trains to Belgium and Holland).
The apartment would suit up to 4 persons and has an excellent layout with all rooms emanating from the entry; it comprises a comfortable living room with sofa bed (140 x 180 cm) overlooking a cinematic Parisienne streetscape including tree-lined boulevard with lots of light flooding the rooms. There is a separate bedroom with a queen size bed (160 x 190) and built-in closet with similar views. The marble bathroom includes a bidet, large bathtub with shower and the toilet is separate.
There is a handy kitchen with full oven and large built-in fridge, from which you can converse with your family and friends in the living room via the bar wall opening.
A new washer-dryer is discretely located in the kitchen.
Located on the fourth floor of a quality apartment building constructed in 1978 on rue Saint Martin, the flat comes with all the comforts of home, including a hi fi system, HD flat screen TV, wireless internet, telephone with free landline calls to most of the world, Bose iPod dock, Nespresso coffee machine and a full range of kitchen appliances.
Entry into the building is directly from the street into an attractive foyer with high security and a large modern elevator which takes you straight up to the apartment.
In every direction is a gastronomic paradise including the gourmet shops of rue Rambuteau and the famous rue Montorgueil with its fresh food street market and the oldest pastry shop in Paris, Stohrer, established in 1730.
Location
The Rue St Martin was once the oldest commercial road in Europe. Today this narrow one way street has very little traffic ending as it does in a pedestrian precinct at the end of the block.
A few minutes' walk to the Pompidou Centre (Beaubourg) and close to several metro lines: Etienne Marcel on line 4, Arts et Metiers (lines 3 & 11) and Rambuteau (11) you are also near to many bus routes which traverse the city.
In addition to the Louvre and the Pompidou Centre museums, within close proximity, include the Picasso, Carnavalet, Cognacq-Jay and the Arts & Metiers.
As for shopping, close by are the BHV Department Store (opposite the Hotel de Ville) and the soon to be refurbished Les Halles shopping centre, still open during the works.
The old Marais is about 10mns away and if you walk towards Hotel de Ville you will be able to cross over to Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite and from there it's just a short hop to St Michel and St Germain des Pres.
Walking north west you will reach Opera Garnier and of course the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores.
Paris (France) (La Rue De Paris)
Riding around on La rue de paris on our way to Paris, the skyline looked so good, I had to film it. I like how its a mix of buildings and nature, very unique, compared to north america.
