3. Marine Museum KarlskronaKarlskrona A maritime museum is a museum specializing in the display of objects relating to ships and travel on large bodies of water. A subcategory of maritime museums are naval museums, which focus on navies and the military use of the sea. The great prize of a maritime museum is a historic ship made accessible as a museum ship, but as these are large and require a considerable budget to maintain, many museums preserve smaller or more fragile ships or partial ships within the museum buildings. Most museums exhibit interesting pieces of ships , ship models, and miscellaneous small items associated with ships and shipping, like cutlery, uniforms, and so forth. Ship modellers often have a close association with maritime museums; not only does the museum have items that help the modeller achieve better... From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

6. ÖlandsbronKalmar The Öland Bridge is a road bridge connecting Kalmar on mainland Sweden to Färjestaden on the island of Öland to its east. At 6,072 meters long, it is one of the longest in all of Europe . It is supported by 156 pillars, and has a characteristic hump at its western end which was created to provide a vertical clearance of 36 m for shipping. A little to the south of the western end of the bridge a small wooden pedestrian and bicycle bridge, around 150 m in length and connecting the island of Svinö to the mainland, echoes the form of the Öland bridge. This replica is clearly visible to anyone crossing to Öland via the main bridge. While the Öresund Bridge linking Sweden with Denmark is longer overall, the Öland Bridge is the longest entirely in Swedish territory. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Northern France as it once was : Village Saint Joseph
The Village Saint Joseph is located near Guînes in the Pas de Calais. It shows an enormous collection, mainly from the first half of the twentieth century, of artisan workshops such as that of the wheelright, blacksmith, mechanic and others as well as shops from the area of northern France. The founder, alongside two colleagues spent a great deal of time in reconstructing a working windmill. As a museum of the way things were, it has to be seen.
I visited whilst staying in Guînes. I went by bicycle from the campsite at La Bien Assise to Village Saint Joseph although there are ample facilities for parking too. It is situated only around 15km or so from the Channel Tunnel, yet very few British people know of it! Worth a visit next time you are passing through!
