North Delhi’s Ridge area, today, a haven for walkers and wild life, has several interesting historical places tucked away in different corners. Some of these, including the Chauburja Mosque and the Guard house go back two centuries and have stood the test of time. You could be a nature lover, a history buff, a bird lover, you would find plenty to attract you to this patch of Delhi’s lungs.
Described as ‘bare, a stony furnace in the hot weather, and a mirror of heat for civilians and soldiers on either side’ by noted historian Percival Spear, the Flagstaff Tower, happens to be a prominent landmark in the Kamla Nehru Ridge. It is the highest point of the ridge and hence the best place to give you a sbird’s eye view of the surrounding area. The tower was built around 1828 by the British as a signal tower and sepoys were permanently stationed here to keep a watch on the northern expanse. At this point of time, a majority of Delhi’s population was contained within the precincts of the walled city. The monument played a major role during the uprising of 1857. The tower was renovated in the late 1990s and became more pedestrian friendly once this part of the ridge was made a motor-free zone.
Khooni Khan Jheel
Going by its dramatic name, this little pond should be an abode of the darker spirits. Instead, you will find ducks and cranes dipping into its cool waters and enjoying the shelter. Nevertheless, the Khooni Khan Jheel enjoys this very distinctive name owing to the role it played during the pre-1947 years. Since the North Delhi Ridge was an ideal place to provide cover to lurking enemies, it was also a place where intermittent battles and altercations broke out between a sepoy and an invader. Invariably, the unsuspecting waters of the pond became a dumping ground for many a body. The best way to go to the Jheel is from the St. Stephen’s side and not the Raj Pur Road entrance. Although the latter is a shorter way, it has many turns that require one to be well acquainted with the area. Some signages are also up at certain points to help one navigate.
Chauburja Mosque
To the south east of the Flagstaff Tower lies the Chauburja Mosque. This 14th century mosque was built by Feroze Shah Tughlaq. The mosque, a guard house and the remains of a 14th century baoli in the vicinity indicate that this area continued to play an important role even in the era preceding the colonia rule. The structure, however, is dilapidated and is in bad need of repair.

Connaught place is one of the largest commercial, financial and business centre's in New Delhi, India. The former location of the head quarters of the British Raj, it is counted as one of the top heritage structures in the capital city of Delhi.

The Central Park in CP or Connaught place has ben rebuilt in 2005/6 after the construction of the Delhi Metro station, Rajiv Chowk, which in a way is like the heart of the metro network in Delhi, it is also the interchange for the yellow and blue lines of the metro and is one of the largest and busiest stations on the entire network. Today, right above the station in Central park, cultural events are regularly hosted. CP, is a hub, most youngsters planning an evening out do connect here, and then kick off the evening. Place to see Delhi || Delhi must see.
Hi, I am Karma T Rayshar. Welcome to my YouTube channel Karma T Rayshar.
PLace to see Delhi || Delhi must see.
Dilli or Delhi is the national capital of India. Delhi was founded by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1649 and named it Shahjahanabad. Weather of Delhi is very unique because in summer it will become too hot, during winter it will be too cold and during monsoon it has amazing rainfall. As it used to be the Mughal’s empire, you can see its influence on Delhi’s Cuisine as well. In fact Mughlai cuisine originated from Delhi itself. But there are plenty of choices of foods e.g. Butter chicken, Chaat, Dahi Vada, Chole Bhature, Kulche, Jalebi, Lassi and much more. Dilli haat is a permanent open air market which is open from 10 am till 10 pm. It is very famous among foodies and shoppers.
In this video, I tried to show popular places to see at Delhi. We did 2 days trip. The first day, we explored Qutub minar, Lotus temple, Lal Quila, Akshardham temple, and diner at Majnu Ka Tilla. 2nd day, we went to see Taj Mahal at Agra, Agra Fort, Mathura and diner at Delhi Haat.
Red Fort was built by Shah Jahan in 1648 and served as the seat of Mughal power until 1857. This stunning structure, with its tall, red sandstone walls, covers an area of more than two kilometers,
Chandni Chowk, As one of the oldest and busiest markets in India, its narrow winding lanes are full of inexpensive jewelry, fabrics, and electronics. For the more adventurous, Chandni Chowk is an excellent place to sample some of Delhi's street food.
Swaminarayan Akshardham
A relatively new attraction, this massive temple complex was built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha spiritual organization and opened in 2005. It's dedicated to showcasing Indian culture.
Lotus Temple due to its nine sides and stunning central dome, is an architectural masterpiece. Constructed of white concrete and marble, the entire structure looks as delicate as the flower it resembles. Built in 1986, the temple has since attracted more than 70 million visitors, making it one of the world's most visited attractions.
Taj Mahal, Agra.
Widely considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and certainly one of India’s most famous landmarks, the Taj Mahal is a living testament to the grandiose and the romantic. Lovingly built from white marble by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife.
Mathura is a holy town located about 30 miles north of the Taj Mahal city of Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It's a hub of religious activity, owing to the fact that the Hindu god Krishna was allegedly born here, and most visitors to the city are devout Hindus or tourists stopping by on their way between Delhi and Agra.
Dilli Haat market has long been popular with tourists as well as locals. You'll find handicrafts from across India, as well as food booths showcasing regional specialties.
Launched in 2003, Dilli Haat is an outdoor complex with a couple of hundred stalls offering handicrafts from across India. Here, you'll find spices, jewelry, traditional fabrics, housewares, and decorative items, all sold at fixed prices. While foreign tourists mostly come here for the shopping, Dilli Haat is hugely popular among locals, owing largely to the wide variety of reasonably priced regional food sold here. Many Delhi shopping, sightseeing, and food tours visit the market.
Connaught Place is a historical double traffic circle lined with chain stores, restaurants, and roadside stalls selling everything from snacks to magazines. It was built under British rule between 1929 and 1933.
Manju ka Tilla , a small settlement for Tibetans is a very popular place to buy Tibetan handicrafts and eat simple and sumptuous meal. Over the years it’s become very very popular with college students and foreigners who visit the place to buy Tibetan handcrafts etc

Top 10 Snowiest Cities on Earth
10. Buffalo: Located just east of Lake Erie, which borders the winter wonderland known as Canada, Buffalo experiences more snow than most major Canadian cities, which tend to be known for long, snowy winters. Buffalo residents also experience increased production of snow due to the meteorological pattern known as “lake-effect snow”, which drastically increases overall snowfall.
9. Rochester: located fairly close to Canada, south of Lake Ontario, Rochester deals with large amounts of lake-effect snow that occasionally leads to blizzards. Sustained winds that exceeded 60 mph battered the regions, blowing snow from the lake. Snow drifts of up to 30 feet accumulated in some areas.
8. Akita: Home of Akita Castle, a fortification built around 733 A.D., Akita has a population of more than 320,000 residents. It achieved the designation of a “core city” of Japan in 1997. The first two months of the year tend to dump the most snow on the people of Akita, with an average of 54.3 inches in January and 42.5 inches in February – over 90% of its average annual snowfall.
7. Saguenay: Saguenay is located about 120 miles north of Quebec City, capital of the province of Quebec. Formed through a merger of four smaller cities – La Baie, Laterriere, Chicoutimi and Jonquiere – Saguenay has a population of more than 144,000 Francophones living close to the Saguenay River and Lac Saint-Jean.
6. Syracuse: Syracuse is located in the state of New York, situated close to a lake – in this case both Lake Ontario and Onondaga Lake. Metropolitan Syracuse has a population of more than 144,000 in the city with more than 662,000 people living in the surrounding metropolitan region.
5. Quebec City: The second biggest city in the province of Quebec, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America and features some of the most beautiful architecture and culture inspired by the city’s French and European roots.. Quebec celebrates the winter with the annual Quebec Winter Carnival. This year marks the carnival’s 60th anniversary.
4. St. John’s: St. John’s is located in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and receives the most snow on average than any major Canadian city. This city is believed to be the oldest in North America and sprung from some of the first wave of settlements from European interlopers.
3. Toyama: This area of Japan receives so much snow on an annual basis that that the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route – Yuki no Otani – features giant walls of snow on both sides that tower over all drivers, completely blocking the view. Toyama is the capital of the Toyay Prefecture and is home to over 417,000 residents.
2. Sapporo: Sapporo is the largest city on this list, with a population of nearly 2 million. The fourth biggest city in Japan is the second snowiest on earth, with nearly 17 feet of snow per year on average. Similar to Quebec City, Sapporo puts on an annual festival, known as the Sapporo Snow Festival, welcoming about two million tourists during the event.
1. Aomori City: By far the snowiest city on earth is Aomori City in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. This location averages a whopping 26 feet of snow per year, more than a 100 inches more than Sapporo, the next snowiest city. The reason Aomori City receives an incredible amount of snow is its location in high elevation among the Hakkoda Mountains, Aomori Bay and Mutsu Bay, combining cold northern air with snow production aided by adjacent bodies of water.
