Marseille, a port city in southern France, has been a crossroads of immigration and trade since its founding by the Greeks circa 600 B.C. At its heart is the Vieux-Port (Old Port), where fishmongers sell their catch along the boat-lined quay. Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde is a Romanesque-Byzantine church. Modern landmarks include Le Corbusier’s influential Cité Radieuse complex and Zaha Hadid’s CMA CGM Tower.

For many years, the busy port city of Marseille has suffered from a serious image problem. Dismissed for its down-at-heel reputation, urban decay and often alarming crime statistics, it's long been the black sheep of the Provençal coastline. But while it’s gritty, and not always pretty – Cannes or St-Tropez, it’s not – Marseille is a dynamic, edgy, bustling city that’s rich with more than 1500 years of history. And since its stint as the European Capital of Culture in 2013 and the addition of a brace of swanky new museums, the city has sparkled with a new sense of optimism and self-belief. At long last, everyone seems to be waking up to the fact that France’s second-biggest city might have been unfairly maligned all along.
The heart of the city is the vibrant Vieux Port (old port), mast-to-mast with yachts and pleasure boats. Just uphill is the ancient Le Panier neighbourhood, the oldest section of the city. Also worth an explore is the République quarter, with its stylish boutiques and Haussmannian buildings, and the Joliette area, centred onMarseille’s famous striped Cathédrale de la Major.

Marseille has a complex history. It was founded by the Phoceans (from the Greek city of Phocaea, now Foça, in modern Turkey) in 600BC and is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The town is a far cry from the Cézanne paintings and Provençal clichés of sleepy villages, pétanque players and Marcel Pagnol novels. With around one million inhabitants, Marseille is the second largest city in France in terms of population and the largest in terms of area. Its population is a real melting pot of different cultures. It is also said that there are more Comorian people in Marseille than in the Comoros! Indeed, the people of Marseille have varying ethnic backgrounds, with a lot of Italians and Spanish having immigrated to the area after the second world war.

For people not afraid to discover a real place with real people, Marseille is the place. From colourful markets (like Noailles market) that will make you feel like you are in Africa, to the Calanques (a natural area of big cliffs falling into the sea - Calanque means fjord), from the Panier area (the oldest place of the town and historically the place where newcomers installed) to the Vieux-Port (old harbor) and the Corniche (a road along the sea) Marseille has definitely a lot to offer. Forget the Canebière, forget the savon de Marseille (Marseille soap), forget the clichés, and just have a ride from l'Estaque to Les Goudes. You will not forget it.

ABOUT MARANATHA SPRING & SHRINE:
Maranatha Spring and Shrine is located in Lorain County, Ohio on over 80 acres and once was farmland. It is the home place of Our Lord and Our Lady's mission to bring to the world the Message of Holy and Divine Love. This mission is organized by Holy Love Ministries, a non-profit organization, and under the title of Missionary Servants of Holy Love.

Maranatha Spring and Shrine is a spiritual source of grace. All people from around the world are invited by Our Lady to visit and partake on a spiritual journey that leads to holiness. People from many states and countries, for example, Canada, Ireland, and Korea, have visited the shrine.

How Maranatha Spring and Shrine Came to Be
Our Lady led the ministry to this particular property, and has stated that The Lake of Tears and the Sorrowful Mother Shrine is one of Her most favorite places on earth. It was designed by heaven. The placement of each statue and every shrine was at Jesus' and Blessed Mother's requests.

What Maranatha Spring and Shrine Represents
Our Lady stated that the layout of the property, from the beginning of the property to the end, represents the soul's journey into holiness and the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

Graces Received at Maranatha Spring and Shrine
Spiritual and Physical Healings
Many spiritual and physical healings have resulted in pilgrimages to Maranatha Spring and Shrine. Holy Love Ministries continues to receive written testimonials regarding these healings and conversions of heart. Some people have testified that they have received spiritual healings and have returned to God, now making Him the center of their lives, while others have testified to physical healings from arthritis, heart problems, and other ailments. Having been healed, they have changed their lives and are now walking on a spiritual path. Other people have been given the grace to endure their sufferings in life, which are to the benefit of all mankind -- all is in accordance to the Will of God.

Our Lady and Our Lord have explained that each person who visits Maranatha Spring and Shrine will not leave unaffected -- heaven knows and will give each pilgrim what he or she needs.

Illumination of Conscience
The great event to come, known as The Illumination of Consciences, or The Illumination, is a time when every conscience will know his stance before God. Our Lady states that we do not need to wait for the hour of enlightenment. People who pilgrimage to Maranatha Spring and Shrine will receive the illumination:

Our Lady states:
...My dear children... Come to My site of favor. Step onto the property. Taste of My Spring. Your consciences will be laid bare before you. All that impedes your journey of Holy Love will be shown you. This is a favor given with such force and strength at this site; it remains unprecedented elsewhere. You may travel and search for such a grace, but it is here, now. 7/10/98

Regarding the Illumination, Our Lord informs us:
...the pilgrim can find everything he needs at this apparition site. Grace abounds here. The message is the only message he need hear, because it envelops every message. At the property or through the use of the water at the many sources there present, the pilgrim will receive the illumination of conscience. He may be physically healed or receive the grace to carry his cross. 5/3/01

Miraculous Spring Water
In December of 1995, Our Lady directed the visionary, Maureen, to the location of where to dig for the Spring. Filling empty bottles with spring water, it has been a source of grace that pilgrims take home with them and to share with others. The water has been a source of grace for spiritual and physical healings.

Miraculous Photos
Many people have seen miraculous images in the sky or evidence of miracles through camera pictures. These heavenly images, as Our Lady has explained, are significant to each person who captures him or her on film. In addition, they validate the prayer site and the messages.

Our Lady states, Different images have different meaning to each individual. Therefore, each picture should be surrendered to prayer before conclusions are drawn. 11/12/97
