Derawan Islands is one of the best destinations to explore in Indonesia with its unique features such as stingless jellyfish, whale sharks, and amazing coral reefs. In order to get there we took flight from Jakarta-Balikpapan-Berau, followed with 2.5 hours car drive and 30 minute boat ride. Make sure you mark this spot as your next holiday destination!

Derawan Islands, East Kalimantan, Indonesia - Best Travel Destination
The Derawan Islands are in the province of East Kalimantan in Indonesia. They include Derawan, Sangalaki, Kakaban, Maratua, Panjang, and Samama Island and submerged reefs and islets. They are located in the Sulawesi Sea, on the coastal shelf of East Kalimantan (2°17'N - 118°13'E). The islands are part of the Berau Regency.
Sepa Island trip - Amazing beach - Jakarta, July 2016
This is our first family trip to Sepa Island, part of Kepulauan Seribu near Jakarta.
It took 2-hour boat ride to get to the island. And who would have guessed that you can find pristine beach with clear turqoise water in Jakarta area?
We really enjoyed spending the days on the beach from morning to sunset, snorkeling all day long, feeding the hungry fishes, and relaxing on the soft sandy beach. All we can say is that Sepa Island is truly Jakarta's hidden paradise!

STINGLESS Jellyfish lake | KAKABAN Berau Borneo TRAVEL VLOG
In this Indonesia Travel Vlog we visit Kakaban. A stingless jellyfish lake in Berau Regency, Derawan, off of the island of Borneo (aka Kalimantan).
This isn't the only stingless jellyfish lake in the world. The most famous being in Palau and Siargao, Philippines. The jellies in all of these lakes are called stingless because there are no natural predators here, and they do not have the need for protection. The reality is though, they do in fact sting, but the stingers on their tentacles (called nematocysts) are too small to pierce the skin of people. If you're a small fish, or other creature... you're lunch.
There are 4 species of Jellies in this lake, and in this Indonesia Travel Vlog, we go exploring to find each of them.
