Dixville Notch is an unincorporated community in Dixville township, Coos County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the township, all of whom live in Dixville Notch, was 12 at the 2010 census. The village is known for being one of the first places to declare its results during United States presidential elections and the New Hampshire primary. It is located in the far north of the state, approximately 20 miles south of the Canadian province of Quebec. Cannon Mountain is a 4,080-foot peak in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It is known for both its technical rock and ice climbing on its cliff face and skiing at Cannon Mountain Ski Area. It was also home to the Old Man of the Mountain, until that formation collapsed on May 3, 2003. Cannon has three sub-peaks with heights of 3,693, 3,700, and 3,769 feet , collectively known as The Cannon Balls. Geologically, it is an exfoliating granite dome. Part of the Kinsman Range, the mountain is located within Franconia Notch State Park.

There are also three theatres, two of which present live shows and a third that features a 3-D movie called A Tinkerdoodle Christmas. Disney Dads online magazine's senior editor just spent a couple days here with her kids- llama trekking, Hummingbirding, Organic gardening, relaxing, and then off to catch a glimpse of a female moose on our way to Umbagog Lake National Wildlife Refuge where our guided pontoon boat took us all out on a spectacular trip up into the Rapid River area- at the upper end of the twelve mile lake. Ospreys, Loons,Black Ducks and a magnificent Bald Eagles Nest with two almost fully ground eaglets stood awaiting the return of their parents with a hopeful meal of fresh fish....
