Escazú is the second canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 34.49 km². The canton lies west of the San José Canton and its whole territory is part of San José Metropolitan Area. According to 2011 census data, its population is 56,509.The canton was one of the earliest established in the country, in December 7, 1848.     Guayabo de Turrialba is an archeological site located in Turrialba, within the Central Volcanic Conservation Area in the Cartago Province, Costa Rica. It is protected within the Guayabo National Monument. The site is of great archeological and cultural importance even though only a very small portion of the city has been uncovered and studied. The monument covers 540 acres and is located on the forested southern slope of Turrialba Volcano. The settlement was occupied between 1000 BC and 1400 AD after which it was mysteriously abandoned. The reason is still unclear and the Spanish Conquistadors and settlers did not leave any record as to whether they found the ruins.

    La Paz is a waterfall in central Costa Rica. In Spanish, it is known as Catarata de La Paz. It is 31 kilometres north of Alajuela, between Vara Blanca and Cinchona. The waterfall is located immediately alongside the road from Alajuela that leads to the northern plains of Costa Rica. The River La Paz forms the waterfall after traversing 8 kilometres of volcanic terrain, and then continues through the rainforest of the eastern side of Poás Volcano.
