Galapagos Islands: Bartolome Island
Galapagos Islands - Summer 2018 - Episode #10
Today we cruised from Santa Cruz to Bartolome Island, spending the day hiking up to the top of the volcanic island, snorkeling and wildlife watching. A little geology and a litter marine life… what more could you want! Enjoy!
Thanks for watching! For those interested in the logistics and cost of this trip. Check out the information below.
Logistics for Santa Cruz Island stay (4 nights/5 Days)
• Hostel North Seymour, Lobo Marino y Duncan N. 258, Puerto Ayora. 4 night stay for 2 people ($221.76 total, or $110.88 each). Complimentary breakfast and water bottle re-fills included. I booked through Expedia.com. in January (5 months before my stay). Hotel North Seymour is a cash only location, so you pay when you arrive.
• Taxi from docks to hotel (10 min trip) = $2 (you can walk… I had broken luggage)
• Highlands Tour: we used a taxi which cost $45 for two people on a half day trip. This included stops at El Chato Tortoise Reserve, Los Gemelos (collapsed craters), and the Lava tunnels. The El Chato Tortoise ranch also cost $5 to enter.
• North Seymour Dive Trip with Eagle Ray Tours $230 each with Eagleray Tours ( Due to boat repairs, Eagle Ray Tours could not run the trip. They worked with Albatros Tours ( to make sure we got on another boat for the same tour.
• Bartolome Island Tour with Eagle Ray Tours ($235 each). Full day with land and snorkeling excursions.
• Food Expenses can obviously very. We had 3 breakfasts and 2 lunches included between the hotel and tours. I purchased 4 dinners, and 1 lunches for $55 combined (no Alcoholic drinks or sodas)…and maybe another $10 of other stuff like ice cream cones and the like.
• Gratuities: I spent roughly $45 tipping on tours and restaurants.
• Ferries between Islands cost $30 one way. We booked our ferry from Santa Cruz to Isabella, and from Isabella back to Santa Cruz with Eagle Ray Tours. I recommend booking your ferry passage as soon as you can as they do fill up.
Total Cost for the Santa Cruz leg of the trip:
• $737,88 (without ferries to and from the island)
Music from Epidemic Sound
Including: Splash of Color, Like Clockwork, Rhytmic Acoustic Guitar, Tay There, and Warm Thoughts

Cruising the Galápagos Archipelago - known for its endemic species, and for the historic research done by Charles Darvin.

BEST SNORKELING OF OUR LIVES || Orcas, Turtles, Sea Lions || Galapagos Cruise Day 2
THIS ADVENTURE MADE POSSIBLE BY:
TODAY WAS AMAZING. But so is every other day in the Galapagos Islands! Today we woke up on the Natural Paradise bright and early and took a boat ride around Punta Vicente Roca. We saw tons of animals in the water, on the rocks, and in the sky. Then we got to jump in and have the best snorkeling of our lives. We saw orca whales, sea lions, sea turtles, penguins, and much more! After a BBQ lunch on the roof, we sailed to an island full of marine iguanas and the cutest baby sea lions on the planet!

It went all too fast? You want the details? No problem.
Here are our recommendations in order of appearance:
00:00 Tegalalang Rice Terrace
You find some of the most beautiful rice terraces of the island just outside of Ubud. A must-see!
00:08 Mount Batur (on the left) and Mount Agung (on the right, covered in clouds)
Those two still active volcanos define the landscape and the religious life of Bali. The Agung is both the highest point and the holiest place on the island.
00:10-00:11 Buyan Lake, Candi Tebing Tegallinggah, Handara Golf Resort Bali
Bali isn't short on stunning views. The crater lakes Buyan, Tamblingan and Beratan are a beautiful sight. Also worth stopping by: The impressive Handara Golf Resort and the hidden ancient ashram Tebing Tegallinggah. It's not easy to find, but tour operators like the highly recommended Matangi Tours (traditionalbalitours.com) can take you there.
00:12 Getting around
...is not always easy on Bali. Renting a scooter (4-6 Dollars/day) is still the best option to move around, but always wear a helmet and be very alert all the time. The traffic is mad!
00:15 Kroya Waterfall
The waterfalls around the most famous and beautiful Aling-Aling make for a fun day trip. You can slide down the Kroya Waterfall and jump into water basins from different platforms
00:17 White Water Rafting on the Ayung River , Bali and meet&greet with elephants
Adrenaline junkies should go on a scenic and fun rafting trip with Bali Adventure Tours. The company with a very good reputation also runs the Elephant Safari Park & Lodge where you can get up close with those wonderful animals.
00:22 Temple hopping
There are actually over 10 000 temples on Bali! Tanah Lot Temple, Bali sits on top of a cliff and the magnificent water temple Pura Ulun Danu Bratan can be found on the Bratan Lake. The Pura Goa Lawah houses thousands of bats and the most romantic temple scenery offers the Ulu Watu.
00:33 Surfing on Nusa Lembongan
Some of the best waves can be found on the tiny island in the Southeast, Nusa Lembongan. To surf at Lacerations, get a boat out with the guys from nusaislands.com who also offer lessons for beginners.
00:37 Canggu area
Kuta and Seminyak in the South is the party zone of the island. Canggu a bit further up north is the surf epicentre, and with the surfer crowd came organic cafés, smoothies bars and chill-out areas. A great place to cure your hangover.
00:39 Traditional cuisine
You will never starve on Bali. And the indonesian/balinese cuisine is delicious. Nasi Campur is kind of a national dish, the indonesian idea of tapas
00:41 Ubud
The cultural and artistic centre of the island is worth to spend several days in. You can spend hours at the fascinating and bustling art market - and spend millions of rupia.
00:44 Turtle Hatchery Project Proyek Penyu
1992 Chris Brown, the owner of Reef Seen Aquatics (reefseenbali.com) in Pemuteran started this project to protect local sea turtles. For a donation you can then release them into the wild.
00:46 Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary Ubud
Your chance for a zillion photos with monkeys. There are more feral monkey in this forest than you can count. Hold on to your bags and your food - unless you want to give away one or two bananas.
00:50 Menjangan Island Bali
The Marine National Park in the Northwest has a stunning array of marine life. One of the best dive and snorkel sites of the island! Dives or snorkel tours can best be booked in Pemuteran Village. We recommend the guys from Funtastic Dive.
00:54 Manta Point, Nusa Penida, Bali
One of the best dives we ever had. Manta Point is a cleaning station for manta rays and their beauty and elegance is mind-boggling. balihaidiving.com is one of the most renowned companies on Nusa Lembongan and offers trips to the best sites around the neighbour island.
00:58 Pemuteran Beach
Due to its volcanic sand not as pretty as the beaches in the south, but therefore far less crowded and very peaceful. A welcome change to places like Kuta.
01:00 Bedugul Traditional Market
The pretty fruit and spice market in Bedugul offers all that your stomach could want. And the prices are among the cheapest on the island.
01:02 Hindu Blessing Ceremony
A very special experience at Matangi Tours is a meeting with the youngest Brahman archpriest of the island and get blessed in this traditional Hindu ceremony in Sidemen.
01:04 Pura Kehen, Bangli
This temple located in Bangli, Bali, Indonesia is one of the most important ones on the island, known for its beautiful ceremonies.
GALAPAGOS ISLANDS TOURISM - Darwin theory mistake
The Galapagos Islands are part of the state of Ecuador, South America. And, it was a territory of the islands are inhabited, although Galapagos itself has been designated as a nature reserve in 1959. Thus, these islands can be used as a tourist destination. There are five inhabited islands in the archipelago, namely Baltra, Floreana, Isabela, San Cristobal and Santa Cruz.
This place is very famous for its biodiversity in it. Islands located in the Pacific Ocean does have some unique animals or endemic species that can not be found elsewhere. However, the total area of the island, 97.5 percent of which is used for the protection of animals endemic. The animals are well-known here include the Galapagos tortoises, marine iguanas and Galapagos land iguana and others. And, as an island nation, Galapagos also overlooks the beach and the exotic sea.
Abundant wildlife above and below the waves attract eco-tourists to Ecuador Galapagos. Get close to the road or in the Zodiac boat. Snorkeling and diving with the inhabitants of the deep, from sea lions to sea turtles at Santiago's Cousin Rock. Climbing by finches, flamingos and iguanas along the Darwin Trail. Admire Sierra Negra Volcano on Isabela. As the number of visitors is limited within the islands' National Park, book your boat tour through a tour operator.
