Genoni is a comune in the Province of South Sardinia in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 70 kilometres north of Cagliari and about 35 kilometres southeast of Oristano. Genoni borders the following municipalities: Albagiara, Assolo, Genuri, Gesturi, Gonnosnò, Laconi, Nuragus, Nureci, Setzu, Sini.

1. Su Nuraxi Barumini Barumini
Su Nuraxi is a nuragic archaeological site in Barumini, Sardinia, Italy. Su Nuraxi simply means The Nuraghe in Campidanese, the southern variant of the Sardinian language. Su Nuraxi is a settlement consisting of a seventeenth century BCE Nuraghe, a bastion of four corner towers plus a central one, and a village inhabited from the thirteenth to the sixth century BCE, developed around the Nuraghe. They are considered by scholars the most impressive expression of the Nuragic civilization and were included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997 as Su Nuraxi di Barumini.

Menhir Biru ‘e Concas - Nel centro esatto della Sardegna

Nel centro esatto dell’Isola c’è un luogo che emana sacralità e genera suggestione. Il più straordinario raggruppamento di menhir del Mediterraneo, il parco archeologico di Biru ‘e Concas, che letteralmente significa ‘sentiero delle teste’’. Sorge a pochi chilometri da Sorgono. Al suo interno ammirerai circa duecento grossi massi scolpiti e levigati fino a ottenere una forma ogivale: i più antichi, proto-antropomorfi, risalenti al Neolitico recente (3500-2800 a.C.), quelli più lavorati e stilizzati, antropomorfi, da collocare nell’Eneolitico (2700-1700 a.C.). In sostanza, i monumenti megalitici sono pietre sacre ‘allungate’, un tempo conficcate (perdas fittas), che, per certo, rappresentano simboli fallici della fertilità evocanti la dea Madre, primordiale divinità prenuragica, e, forse, ricorderebbero le figure mitiche ed eroiche degli antenati.
Che popolo era quello delle grandi pietre? Collegato in qualche modo al ‘megalitismo’ celtico e bretone o con caratteri propri e autoctoni? Perché una così grande concentrazione di menhir vicino a Sorgono?
Come mai proprio nel centro della Sardegna? Sono le domande ricorrenti sulle quali riflettono e dibattono gli archeologici.
