The purpose of this video is to determine where the safest cities to live are in West Virginia. Those places where crime is usually something you hear about on Facebook, but not from your local paper.
We analyzed cities in West Virginia with a population of more than 5,000 using the latest FBI crime data.
Here are the 10 Safest CITIES in WEST VIRGINIA for 2019:

Heading East to the Midwest (Pt. 25) - Country Roads Took Me to West Virginia
July 3/4, 2015 - These country roads took me home to West Virginia for the first time. Featured are US Route 50 through the Appalachians the Ohio River in Parkersburg to Clarksburg, my hotel room for the night at the Days Inn in Fairmont, and then Interstate 79 heading north to Morgantown the following morning.

Creepy Coal Mining Town I: Abandoned West America
On today's Abandoned America, the Pexped team heads to West Virginia in search of a lost coal mining town called Nuttallburg. Located in the New River Gorge, Nuttallburg is one of the many abandoned coal towns along the river. In this video we explore the Head-house located at the top of the gorge. Fans of outdoor concerts will find the many shows happening in Kawarthas Northumberland each summer to be music to their ears. The region offers scores of opportunities to listen to the sweet sounds of country, blues, folk, rock, indie and symphony.
As part of the @PerfectWknds Travel Reports ( Jason & Joanne were privileged to attend and be part of one of the biggest music series staged in the region -- Peterborough MusicFest (
This event has been serving up FREE music at Del Crary Park in Peterborough ( for over 25 years. These shows are staged at the band shell by Little Lake and occur every Wednesday and Saturday night from the end of June until the end of August.
Over the years, these freebies have included big name performers like Carly Rae Jepson, Sloan, April Wine, Proclaimers, Royal Wood, Walk off the Earth, Lighthouse and former heart throb, Davey Jones. Over 150,000 people are estimated to attend every summer.
Here are some of the other big musical events that you should look to attend in Kawarthas Northumberland -- land of 1000 perfect (musical) weekends!
Shelter Valley Folk Festival (
This annual Labour Day weekend event has become a signature cultural happening for the region and was recently named one of Canada's Top 10 Festivals by CBC Radio 3 as a part of a national listener poll. It takes place in a magical field setting amid the rolling hills of east Northumberland Country near Grafton.
Havelock Country Jamboree (havelockjamboree.com)
In mid August every year, Havelock hosts Canada's largest country music and camping festival with over 25 entertainers performing on twin stages over a 4 day period. The event features a mix of veteran and up-and-coming artists from both Canada and the United States.
Brian's Not Just Blues Festival (
Expect to be singin' more than the Blues at this annual fundraising event held the second Saturday of June on the grounds of Lockside Trading Company just north of Lakefield in Young's Point.
Fenelon Falls Blues Festival (
This 3-day event takes place at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre, and is presented by Lock Jam. It happens annually in late June.
The Hootenany on Hunter Street (
Every August, this one-day street festival celebrates Peterborough's downtown culture scene with live music, funky arts displays and excellent eats.
