1. EAA Aviation Museum Oshkosh
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is an annual gathering of aviation enthusiasts held each summer at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States. The Southern part of the show grounds as well as Camp Scholler are located in the town of Nekimi. The airshow is sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association , an international organization based in Oshkosh, and is the largest of its kind in the world. The show lasts a week, usually beginning on the last Monday in July. During the gathering, the airport's control tower is the busiest in the world.

The state park is composed of mature forest land and over 2,000 acres of sand dunes. The park is 1.5 miles wide and 3 miles long and is divided into three segments: The northern area is an all-terrain vehicle dunes area where private motorized vehicle may be driven, the middle of the park is a non-vehicle area , and the southernmost section is leased to a private operator. The park grounds include the Little Sable Point Light on Lake Michigan and one mile of shoreline on 690-acre Silver Lake.

Kohler-Andrae State Park comprises two adjacent Wisconsin state parks located in the Town of Wilson, a few miles south of the city of Sheboygan. They are managed as one unit. Terry Andrae State Park, established in 1927, and John Michael Kohler State Park, established in 1966, total 988 acres . The parks contain over two miles of beaches and sand dunes along the shore of Lake Michigan, with woods and wetlands away from the water. The Black River flows through the parks. The park protects threatened plants.

Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve is a 73-acre public park located in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, running adjacent to Lake Michigan for 0.7 miles near the village of Grafton and city of Port Washington. It was purchased by the county in 2002 from a private property owner and borders a 44-acre United States Fish and Wildlife Service waterfowl production area. It features over 1.5 miles of gravel and boardwalk trails through white cedar and hardwood forests, wetlands, and Lion's Den Gorge, with some sections of trails offering views of Lake Michigan from atop the nearly 100 foot tall bluffs. Following the Lion's Den Trail from the main parking lot takes one all the way through the park, down through the gorge, and finally to the lakeshore. Featured are US Route 50 through the Appalachians the Ohio River in Parkersburg to Clarksburg, my hotel room for the night at the Days Inn in Fairmont, and then Interstate 79 heading north to Morgantown the following morning.

Put in Bay & Kelley Island ( The Midwest Playground )

Put-in-Bay is a village located on South Bass Island in Put-in-Bay Township, Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. Many believe that the name originates from some early maps of South Bass Island that showed the harbor being named Pudding Bay, probably because it was shaped like a pudding sack.] The population was 128 at the 2000 census. The village played a significant role in the War of 1812 as the location of the squadron of U.S. naval commander Oliver Hazard Perry, who sailed from the port on September 10, 1813 to engage a British squadron just north of the island in the Battle of Lake Erie. The village is a popular summer resort and recreational destination. Ferry service connects the community with Catawba Island, Kelleys Island, Port Clinton, and Sandusky, Ohio.The island's primary industry is and for most of its history has been tourism. The tourist season runs roughly between April and October. The most common methods of transportation to and from the island are via ferry boat, propeller-driven aircraft and private boat.
One of the world's largest hotels, the Hotel Victory, opened its 625 rooms to the public in 1892. The four-story hotel featured a one-thousand-seat dining room. However on August 14, 1919, the giant hotel burned to the ground. Today only parts of the foundations can be seen at the state campground.
Put-in-Bay is the site of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial commemorating Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's September 10, 1813 naval victory over British ships in the War of 1812. Construction of the monument began in 1912 and it opened to the public on June 13, 1915. It is 352 feet (107 m) tall and made up of 78 layers of pink granite, topped with an eleven ton (10 metric ton) bronze urn. Its height makes it the highest open-air observatory operated by the U.S. National Park Service. The remains of six naval officers, three British and three Americans, were interred beneath the floor of the monument's rotunda.
