One day in Kazan, Russia. Things to do | 2018
My name is Daria and I live in Moscow. I decided to make a little trip to Kazan for one day.
Some facts.
Kazan is the sixth most populous city in Russia.
It is one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Population of Kazan is more than 1 243 500.
Kazan lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka Rivers.
There are 2 official languages in Kazan: Russian and Tatarian. And they have 2 presidents.
Kazan’s subway has 10 stations.
There is an Aero express from the airport. It takes 30 minutes to get to the center. It costs 40 rubles, in comparison, in Moscow a ticket for aero express costs 500 rubles.
You will see many historical buildings, the beautiful Volga river, taste national sweets and dishes, meet calm people.
In comparison with Moscow this city is calm, the air is fresh, and the prices are lower.
Most interesting places are concentrated in the center of Kazan. Let’s start our trip.
-Bauman street – улица Баумана
-Epiphany Cathedral - Колокольня Богоявленского собора
- Monument Carriage of Catherine II
-The Kazan Kremlin is the heart of Kazan.
-The Kul Sharif Mosque is the great symbol of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan.
This Mosque was named after a real man who was a hero for people in Tatarstan
- Preobrazhenskaya Tower
- Söyembikä Tower (Башня Сююмбике )- a leaning tower of the city
-Annunciation cathedral - Благовещенский собор —

City of the Dead: The Mysterious Village of Dargavs, Russia | New Discovery
Often referred to as the City of the Dead, the village of Dargavs is considered to be one of the more mysterious sites in Russia. Hidden away in one of the five mountain ridges somewhere in the Caucasus mountains, the “city” is actually an ancient necropolis full of tombs or crypts. The people who lived here, buried their loved ones in this site for reasons that have been lost in the passage of time. Many myths and legends surround the site and in the past local people refused to go here out of fear that they would not come out alive. Some sources say the oldest crypts dates back to the 16th century and were made due to a plague that swept through the area decimating the population
