Places to see in ( Downpatrick - UK )
Downpatrick is a medium-sized town about 33 km south of Belfast in County Down, Northern Ireland. It has been an important site since ancient times. Its cathedral is said to be the burial place of Saint Patrick.
As the largest town in the Lecale area, Downpatrick is a commercial, recreational and administrative centre for the locality and serves as a hub for the nearby towns and villages. Within a 30 minutes drive from Belfast, the location serves as a commuter town for a large number of people. The town has a number of primary and post-primary schools educating students from all over the east Down area.
Downpatrick is characterised by the rolling drumlins that are a feature of the Lecale area and a legacy of glaciation during the Pleistocene, the Down drumlins themselves are underlaid by Ordovician and Silurian shales and grits. Its lowest point lies within the marshland surrounding the north east of the town, recorded as being 1.3 ft (0.40 m) below sea level. Downpatrick is approximately 22 miles (35 km) from Belfast and has a regular bus service to the city.
Ballyalton Court Cairn is a single court grave situated on a rock outcrop by the roadside 0.5 miles (0.80 km) from Ballyalton village, which is 2.25 miles (3.62 km) east of Downpatrick, at grid ref 531 448. Ballynoe Stone Circle, a large circle of over 50 closely spaced upright stones, surrounding a mound which, when excavated, was found to contain two cists in which cremated bones were found, is only 2.5 miles (4 km) south in the hamlet of Ballynoe.
Down County Museum, is located on the Mall in English Street in Downpatrick and was formerly the old Down County Gaol. It was built between 1789 and 1796 at the behest of the County Grand Jury of Down under the supervision of Marquess of Downshire, the Earl of Hillsborough and the Hon Edward Ward, it was designed by architect Charles Lilly.
Downpatrick Racecourse, is located on the Ballydugan Road on the outskirts of Downpatrick. Horse racing has been held at Downpatrick under the charter of James II of England.
Downpatrick & County Down Railway is Ireland's only full-sized heritage railway. Built on the BCDR's former line to Belfast, it links the town with Inch Abbey and various other places of historical interest.
Inch Abbey, a large, ruined Cistercian monastic site featuring early Gothic architecture is 0.75 miles (1.2 km) north-west of Downpatrick on the north bank of the River Quoile off the main road to Belfast. The Lecale peninsula covers an area of some 78 square miles (200 km2) between Downpatrick and Dundrum. It is an area of historical and geographic significance.
The Mound of Down or Rathkeltair is one of the major earthworks of Ulster, situated on the NW edge of Downpatrick it is a good example of an Iron Age defensive earthwork in the middle of which a Norman Motte and Bailey was built by John de Courcy after his defeat of Rory Mac Donlevy in 1177.
St. Patrick Center, is the only permanent exhibition in the world dedicated to the patron saint of Ireland, and one of the best tourist destinations in Ireland. Quoile Castle is a ruined 16th-century tower house, just off the main road from Downpatrick to Strangford.
Downpatrick is situated at the junction of the A7 (Downpatrick to Saintfield and Belfast) road, the A25 (Downpatrick to Newry and Dublin) road and the A2 coast road. While there are no rail services in Downpatrick, Ulsterbus provides bus services to and from the Downpatrick Bus Station. Downpatrick railway station on the Belfast and County Down Railway, opened on 23 March 1859 and Downpatrick Loop Platform opened on 24 September 1892.

Places to see in ( Ilfracombe - UK )
Ilfracombe is a seaside resort and civil parish on the North Devon coast, England, with a small harbour surrounded by cliffs. Ilfracombe stretches along the coast from the 'Coastguard Cottages' in Hele Bay toward the east and 4 miles along the Torrs to Lee Bay toward the west. The resort of Ilfracombe is hilly and the highest point within the parish boundary is at 'Hore Down Gate', 2 miles inland and 860 feet (270 m) above sea level.
The landmark of Hillsborough Hill dominates the harbour and is the site of an Iron Age fortified settlement. In the built environment, the architectural-award-winning Landmark Theatre is either loved or hated for its unusual double-conical design. The 13th century parish church, Trinity, and the St Nicholas's Chapel (a lighthouse) on Lantern Hill, have been joined by the Damien Hirst owned statue, Verity, as points of interest.
Ilfracombe overlies slates formed from sedimentary rock that underwent geological stress (creating faults and folds), towards the end of the Carboniferous Period, around 300 million years ago. These are known as the Ilfracombe slates. Ilfracombe lies within the North Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is renowned for its dramatic coastal cliffs and landscape.
Ilfracombe is at the southern end of the A361, the longest 3-digit A-road in England. From 1874, Ilfracombe was served by the Ilfracombe railway line that ran from Barnstaple, but this closed in 1970. Now, the nearest National Rail railway station is in Barnstaple and buses provide the public transport link from there to Ilfracombe.

CLIFTON, BRISTOL, UK - Town to Suspension Bridge
As close to being there, without being there.
Join us for this virtual tour of Clifton in Bristol, as we make our way to the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge - the symbol of the city.
We start in Victoria Square and walk through to Boyce's Avenue - site of the Clifton Arcade as well as many charming cafes, coffee shops and independent retailers such as the Primrose Cafe, Saffron, Reg the Veg and Papersmiths.
We cross the road and follow Princess Victoria Street - taking time to explore it's wealth of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, detouring along the way to discover Waterloo Street and The Mall.
Back on Princess Victoria Street, we follow it down to the White Lion on Sion Hill, where we turn right to catch our first view of the iconic Victorian Clifton Suspension Bridge.
We pass the Old Clifton Rocks Railway on our way uphill towards the toll booth at the start of the bridge. Walking onto the bridge gives us a stunning view of the Avon Gorge below on this sunny but windy day.
We continue for an even better view and wind our way up to the Clifton Observatory above St Vincent's Rocks. This site, (which houses a cave once used as a temple in ancient times - known also as Ghyston's cave or Giant's Cave) provides a stunning view of the entire span of the bridge as it straddles the Avon Gorge.

Places to see in ( Banbridge - UK )
Banbridge is a town in County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies on the River Bann and the A1 road and is named after a bridge built over the River Bann in 1712. Banbridge is situated in the civil parish of Seapatrick and the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Upper Half.
The town began as a coaching stop on the road from Belfast to Dublin and thrived from Irish linen manufacturing. The town is the headquarters for Banbridge District Council. The town's main street is very unusual, and rises to a steep hill before levelling out. In 1834 an underpass was built as horses with heavy loads would faint before reaching the top of the hill. It was built by William Dargan and is officially named 'Downshire Bridge', though it is often called The Cut.
Banbridge, home to the Star of the County Down, is a relatively young town, first entering recorded history around 1691 during the aftermath of the struggle between William III and James II. An Outlawry Court was set up in the town to deal with the followers of James. Banbridge has staged an annual busking competition and music festival called Buskfest since 2004. Performers often travel long distances to participate. The competition closes with an evening concert composed of performances by world-famous artists. Recently, Banbridge has been twinned with Ruelle in France.
Like the rest of Ireland, the Banbridge area has long been divided into townlands, whose names mostly come from the Irish language. Banbridge sprang up in a townland called Ballyvally. Over time, the surrounding townlands have been built upon and they have lent their names to many streets, roads and housing estates. The following is a list of townlands within Banbridge's urban area.
Near the town lie the ancient Lisnagade Fort, Legannany Dolmen, and the Loughbrickland Crannóg, constructed around the year 500 AD. Thomas Ferguson & Co Ltd factory tours. The town is situated a short distance from the Brontë Homeland in Rathfriland- the church at which Patrick Brontë preached often hosts musical performances by well-known artists, e.g. Eddi Reader.
Banbridge is on the A1 main road between Belfast and Newry. The nearest railway station is Scarva on Northern Ireland Railways' Belfast–Newry railway line, about 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Banbridge. Banbridge had its own railway station from 1859 until 1956. The Banbridge, Newry, Dublin and Belfast Junction Railway opened Banbridge (BJR) railway station on 23 March 1859.

8. The 200.000 Calorie Challenge
Randy Santel flew to the UK to participate in 42 of their biggest eating competitions. He managed to eat a 92 ounce steak, 60 ounce burger and 27 inch pizza in one of the challenges.! Truly remarkable. Another one featured the British traditional breakfasts in the city of Barnsley. He said that 70 percent of the challenges he participated in at the US, included large burgers and he wanted to give it a shot with English cuisine. All the challenges he participated in totalled in at 200,000 calories! The recommended daily calorie intake is about 2,500! He went on a serious diet afterwards and still appears to be in good health.
7. The Pho Garden Challenge
Most of us haven’t heard of a soup challenge, but here at the Pho Garden in San Francisco, people who accept this challenge attempt to eat two pounds of noodles along with beef and tripe with about a gallon of broth, that you see in this photo! Complete the challenge and you’ll see yourself of the Wall of Fame! Who knew you could get famous just for a having a large appetite for noodles!
6. Big Mac Challenge
Do you think you could consume 12,386 calories in less than an hour? You’ll never guess who decided to participate in this one either. A former Miss New Zealand gobbled down 22 big macs in just under an hour and has no shame. Just a few weeks before, she scarfed down 27 reese’s pieces in only 100 seconds. She must have just been completely starving after not eating before so many competitions. She said she did it to prove about model’s eating habits but it seems like a dangerous stunt to pull.
5. Montana Testicle Festival
In Montana, during the during what’s known as the Testicle Festival that’s been around since 1982, participants take place is very strange competitions and you can already probably guess what’s on the menu. Rocky mountain oysters or bull calf testicles are laid out on a table and participants, like this guy in the photo, appears to be having an absolute ball!. To win, you have to eat about a half pound in a minute. Some rave about the health benefits of this strange food, saying it’s a great source of protein and fatty acids. There’s another one in Colorado that’s a little more serious and pays out 5000. Would you have the cajones to participate in this challenge?
4. Corn on the Cob Challenge
This one seems a little more dangerous and not from the calories being consumed but from his prefered utensil used to eat the corn on the cob. This man from China, was able to eat an entire corn on the cob in only 10 seconds! How you might ask? With a little help from a power tool, this man nicknamed Eater Yang, put the cob on a power drill and got to work! Bits of the corn go flying but he’s still able to finish it off clean.
3. The Kale Cup
While most of these challenges require people to be extreme carnivores, this one might actually appeal to you vegetarians out there. PETA won’t be able to protest this one because instead of hot dogs, contestants are chowing down a leafy green vegetable on a bun. The winner of this bizarre eating competition will even get 2000 dollars and feel good about eating something healthy for a change. 2nd place still gets a cool G. The real challenge here is if you can withstand the taste of kale for 8 minutes. The winner on July 9th got this cool green trophy, that you see in this photo to showcase in their living room
2. Live Cockroach Eating Contest
While most people would be frightened by just the site of a cockroach, other are participating in contests trying to eat as many of them as possible. A man in Florida actually died during this competition. The man had actually won the competition, getting a python as the grand prize. Coroner reports later stated that he died due to asphyxiation of gastric fluids. Basically, his stomach didn’t properly digest the live cockroaches and it impaired his ability to breath. You should probably think twice before entering one of these competitions
1.Nathan's Hotdog Eating Competition
Every year on the fourth of July, Nathan’s famous hot dog eating competition begins despite enraging animal rights protesters. On July 4th 2016, Joey Chestnut wins first place as he was able to down 70 bunned hot dogs in 10 minutes, beating his opponent by 17! Now that takes some serious skill and an empty stomach. He wanted to beat his old record of 69 so he went above and beyond in order to show his greatness. This was the most ever eaten at the competition. This competition was dominated by a Japanese man named Takeru Kobayashi, who holds 8 guinness world records for his eating abilities. At the New York State Fair, he managed to eat 110 bunless hot dogs in only 10 minutes!
