Elves and dragons, maids and knights hiking and biking, oysters and crepes these are some of the surprises and pleasures Joseph discovers in Brittany, France the Celtic land of myths and legends.
As you would expect in a region enamored with its history and legends, Brittany is filled with historic towns in fact, there’s even an official classification Cities of Art and History that is approved by the Ministry of Culture. A sub-species is Small Towns of Character and it’s into that category that many of the region’s picture postcard towns fall. The cultural arts and crafts of Brittany are evidenced in the traditional dress including the more than 1,200 varities of headdresses worn by women at festivals. King Arthur and the Holy Grail is one of the world’s most enduring legends and it all began in Brittany. It is in the Forest of Broceliande that King Arthur received the sword Excalibur and the fairy Viviane fell in love with and imprisoned Merlin. The dense forest surrounds the lakeside village of Paimpont where more than 50 kilometers of hiking trails may lead to magical happenings!
Houlgate, France
Houlgate is located along the English Channel in the valley of the Drochon. The valley is mostly built up or used for pasture. The town's area is 4.69 km² and the average altitude 5 m. Despite its low average height, the town contains two hills which form the natural limits of the commune.
Its a great place to spend your holiday during your stay at the Normandy Coast.

C’est par une nouvelle carte postale vidéo-musicale que je viens jusqu’à vous. Allons ensemble dans la direction de Paray le Monial sur l’itinéraire des voies navigables de France sur le Canal du Centre. Plus qu’un Canal utilisé par les péniches, il est devenu au fil des dernières années l’un des canaux les plus prisés par les plaisanciers avec leurs petites embarcations pour se laisser porter au fil de l’eau au même titre que le Canal du Midi. Bonne découverte fluviale.
Mit einer neuen video-musikalischen Postkarte komme ich zu Ihnen. Wir gehen gemeinsam in Richtung Paray le Monial auf den Wasserstraßen Frankreichs am Canal du Centre. Mehr als ein Kanal, der von Lastkähnen und grosse Schiffen genutzt wird, ist er in den letzten Jahren zu einem der beliebtesten Kanäle für Bootsfahrer geworden, mit seinen kleinen Booten, die wie Canal du Midi am Wasser ist er ganz Sonderlich. Gute Flussentdeckung.

The Brittany holiday cottages La Forge and La Veille maison are located in the wonderful countryside of the Morbihan region of Brittany.
If you enjoy walking or cycling there are many quite roads following rivers, passing through woodland and open countryside.
I am often asked what the weather is like in April and May in Brittany and have now enjoyed 7 years living in France and these months always bring with them some fantastic weather to enjoy the best of France.
The heated swimming pool is open from mid March and for April and most of May is offered as a private swimming pool for guest staying in La Forge.
La Forge Brittany holiday cottage is available to rent all year.
